Haryono No. 169, Malang e-mail: bimahendra@student.ub.ac.id  ABSTRAK Penulisan ini mengangkat tentang alasan mahasiswa menyebarkan konten pornografi melalui Whatsapp. Pada Undang-Undang Pornografi yang ada di Indonesia menyatkan bahwa hal tersebut dilarang oleh undang-undang, tetapi megapa hal tersebut terjadi di kalangan mahasiswa, selain itu juga membahas mengenai alasan penyidik tidak melanjutkan proses hukum terkait tindak pidana cyberporn yang ada di Polres Malang Kota. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Yuridis-Kriminologis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa alasan mahasiswa menyebarkan konten pornografi melalui Whatsapp ini adalah karena penyebaran konten pornografi dianggap sebagai gurauan, menuruti permintaan teman untuk mengirimkan konten pornografi, dan untuk membuktikan isu yang sedang beredar, selanjutnya untuk alasan penyidik tidak melanjutkan proses hukum atas laporan penyebaran konten pornografi melalui Whatsapp adalah karena tidak tersedianya alat yang dapat mengetahui pengirim konten yang bermuatan pornografi, tidak tersedianya penyidik yang memumpuni di bidang IT, dan korban meminta hanya sampai laporan saja dan untuk menakut-nakuti pelaku.Kata Kunci: Cyberporn, Kriminologi, Penyidik ABSTRACT This writing raised issues concerning the reasons why students spread pornographic content through Whatsapp. The Indonesian Pornography Law states that it is prohibited by law, but why did this happen among students. Furthermore, this article also discusses the reasons why investigators did not continue the legal process related to cyberporn crimes in the Malang City Police Department. The approach method used in this research is Juridical-Criminology. The results of this study indicate that the students’ reasons spread pornographic content through Whatsapp is because the distribution of pornographic content is considered a joke, following a friend's request to send pornographic content, and to prove the issues that are currently happening. Furthermore, the reason that investigators do not continue the legal process for reports of content distribution pornography via Whatsapp is due to the unavailability of a tool that can identify the sender of pornographic content, the unavailability of qualified investigators in the IT field, and the victim asking only to report and to frighten the perpetrators.
