Abstract

The performance of the c type of swamp rice line through ratoon technology at Rokan Hilir Regency. Jurnal Lahan Suboptimal: Journal of Suboptimal Lands. 8(2):220-229.  To support food security, the government set a national rice production target of 10 million tons in 2014. Its a trigger in agricultural innovation. The utilization of sub-optimal lands such as tidal lowland for the purpose of increasing food production and self-sufficiency and making swamps as a national food barn continue to be pursued, both through innovation and excavation and the development of local wisdom. Various technological innovations have been produced by the IAARD on tidal lowland, including increasing crop intensity (IP), genetic improvement in rice, and ratoon planting systems. The aim of this research was to get the type C tidal rice lines through ratoon technology. The research has been conducted at Pematang Sikek Village, Rimbo Melintang sub District, Rokan Hilir Regency with  C type of tidal lowland using a Randomized Group Design with 4 replications. The rice strains tested included 11 tidal rice were with 11 types of tidal rice lines (G1, G3, G4, G6, G7, G8, G17, G20, G23, G45 , G53). The results showed that the best vegetative growth were G3 (118.33 cm), G7 (15.00 stems) Number of productive tillers was G4 (15.33 stems) while for generative growth G4 (2.50 t / ha), G53 ratoon (35.33 cm) 238.00 gram), weight of a thousand grains of G53 ratoon was (26.77 gram). G4 gives the highest production and adapted to Rokan Hilir tidal lowland.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of compost made from waste oil palm leaf on increasing production of cucumber, the use of the best compost on cucumber production and the reducing level of using orgnic fertilizer with compost substitution on vegetable. The experiment used the completely randomized design with two factors. The first factor was oil palm. Leaf compost with four treatments: 0, 5, 10, 15 t/ha. The second factor was an-organic fertilizer with four treatments: 0, 1/3, ½ and 1 times the recommended dose. The result showed that interactinally application of various dose of compost and anorganic fertilizer has effect on all parameters observations. The using palm leaf compost 10 t/ha increase cucumber production to 20 t/ha compared to control and reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers into ½ times the recommended dose.

Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the effect of BAP and NAA interactionally and individually on explant growth of dragon fruit in-vitro. The research was carried out at the Biotechnology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru. The experiment used the completely randomized design with two factors. The first factor was BAP concentration (B) with four treatments: B0 (0 ppm), B1 (2 ppm), B2 (4 ppm), and B3 (6 ppm). The second factor was NAA concentration (N) with four treatments: N0 (0 ppm), N1 (0.5 ppm), N2 (1.0 ppm), and N3 (1.5 ppm), so it was obtained 16 combination and 3 treatments. The observed parameter included age of shoot emergence, shoot number, and shoot height. As a result, the interaction use BAP ad NAA had effect on age of shoot emergence with BAP concentration of 4 ppm and 1,0 ppm. By using BAP only affected on the age of shoot emergence, percentage of explant life, and shoot height with BAP concentration of 4 ppm. Furthermore, the using NAA only had an effect on age of shoot emergence, shoot number and shoot height with concentration of 1.0ppm.

Abstract

The research was carried out at the experimental farm of Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru from January to April 2010. The aim of this research was to know ethrel affectivity and to determine optimum doses of ethrel use for enhancing cucumber production. The completely randomized design was used in this research, consisting of seven treatments with three replications. The ethrel doses given were: 0.0; 2.5; 5.0; 7.5; 10.0; 12.5 and 15.0 cc/l of water. Results showed that the ethrel given to cucumber plant can prolong the period of the plant vegetative growth, reduce the number of the male flower per plant, increase the number of the female flower per plant, increase the number of fruit per plant, increase weight of fruit per plant and per plot, and weight of dry matter per plant. The average of fruit length had no significantly effect. The best ethrel dose was 5 cc/l of water for enhancing cucumber production.
