Abstract

AbstractWriting is categorized as a productive skill which means learners doing these to produce language. It is the process of developing the idea, arranging the words becoming a good writing. As a productive skill, writing is considered as a complex one. The following article tries to discuss the technique which can be used in teaching writing, The Clustering Technique. The aim of this study is to discuss the use of clustering technique in teaching writing based on the teories or previous researches. Based on the literature review of the previous research and expert opinion, it is found that clustering technique is very effective to be used in teaching writing.  This technique allows the students to generate their ideas easily, group them correctly, and develop them into an organized paragraph. The method of this research is a literature review. The result shows that this technique can improve students writing skill. It helps students develop their idea before they writing. Besides, they also feel motivated and fun in writing.Keywords:  Clustering technique, Teaching, Writing skill. AbstrakMenulis merupakan keterampilan produktif dimana peserta didik melakukannya untuk menghasilkan bahasa. Menulis adalah proses mengembangkan ide, mengatur kata-kata menjadi tulisan yang bagus. Sebagai keterampilan produktif, menulis dianggap sebagai keterampilan yang kompleks. Artikel berikut mencoba membahas teknik yang dapat digunakan dalam pengajaran menulis, The Clustering Technique. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membahas penggunaan teknik pengelompokan dalam pengajaran menulis berdasarkan cerita atau penelitian sebelumnya. Berdasarkan tinjauan pustaka dari penelitian sebelumnya dan pendapat ahli, ditemukan bahwa teknik clustering sangat efektif untuk digunakan dalam pengajaran menulis. Teknik ini memungkinkan siswa untuk menghasilkan ide-ide mereka dengan mudah, mengelompokkannya dengan benar, dan mengembangkannya menjadi paragraf yang terorganisir. Metode penelitian ini adalah tinjauan pustaka. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa teknik ini dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa. Ini membantu siswa mengembangkan ide mereka sebelum mereka menulis. Selain itu, mereka juga merasa termotivasi dan senang dalam menulis.Kata kunci: Clustering, pengajaran, keterampilan menulis.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine students’ gender differences on writing ability using creative diary. This research was conducted to find out whether students’ gender affects to their writing ability. The design used in this research was one group pretest and posttest. The population of this research is the first semester students of communication sciences class 1C Unis academic year 2017/2018 which consist of 47 students in one class. The data were collected from a project of making creative diary and were analyzed by using SPSS 25. The result of the research shows that there is a difference between female and male students on writing ability using creative diary. Female students still have a better score than male students after they are given a pretest and posttest. It is shown by the number of percentage in three categories. Based on the result, it can be concluded that there is a difference of writing ability between female and male student

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aim to help students comprehend English reading texts and make students more practice in learning, especially in discussion. This research use Quantitative Research. Population in this research is 258 students of eleventh grade in SMAN 14 Kab.Tangerang. In selecting the sample, the researcher uses Purposive Sampling Technique. The sample in this research is two classes, experimental class 30 students and controlled class 34 students. There are two variables, first, variable X is Reciprocal Teaching Strategy, and Y is Reading Comprehension. The researcher used T-test to analyse the result. The result of the statistical calculation and hypothesis testing in chapter IV it shows that tcount  was higher than the ttable (6,732 > 1,670) which means that Ha  is accepted. It means that reciprocal teaching have a significantly positive effect on the English reading comprehension. Keywords : reading comprehension, reciprocal teaching, conventional teaching
