Abstract

This research basically is conducted to improve students’ reading comprehension through KWL (Know, What, to learn) at the eight grade of SMP Islam Al-Asmaniyah. This research had been done at eigth grade of SMP Islam Al-Asmaniyah located Kab. Tangerang, Banten. This research had been taken in semester II. It had done since April 2018 – June 2018 in academic year 2017 – 2018. This research is classroom action research with qualitative approach. As for design classroom action research which is used in this study is to use a model of Kemmis and McTaggart that used 3 cycles where each cycle included planing, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of reading test in cycle I using KWL got the average score of 71,8 where there are 59 % students that got KKM. In cycle II, the result of reading test using KWL got the average score of 76 where there are 76% students that got KKM. The students were easier to read the text given. Although they still found difficult in understanding the text because of the limitation of their vocabulary. The result of reading test got better in cycle III. The students were more understand in doing their activity in KWL and more active in learning. In this cycle, they got the average score of 83,2 where there are 93% students that got KKM. KWL can be considered as an effective way to improve students’ achievement in reading comprehension.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know student English learning outcomes using Discovery Learning learning methods and to find out student learning activities in English learning. The population of this research is all grade X students of SMA Asy-Syukriyyah. The research sample was taken by random sampling technique. This research was started with a pretest and then was treated using the Discovery Learning learning method. Based on the results of testing the research hypothesis and analysis of data processing found that Sig. (2-tailed) is 0,000 where 0,000 <0.05. So H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected. Thus there is a difference between the value of learning outcomes before the discovery learning method is treated with the learning outcomes have been carried out treatment using the discovery learning method. Thus, It can be concluded that the method of discovery learning is very effective in improving the English learning outcomes of students of class X in SMA Asy-Syukriyyah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas pengguna model project based learning dalam penilaian autentik di sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif. Adapun tehnik pengumpulan data adalah melalui wawancara, obserasi, dan dokumentasi. Tehnik analisis dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan triangulasi yang memadukan ketiga tehnik pengumpulan data untuk disimpulkan mendapatkan sebuah kesimpulan yang objektif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa penggunakan model project based learning dalam proses penilaian di sekolah sangat efektif. Hal ini disebabkan karena model project based learning tidaka hanya mencangkup aspek kognitif saja melainkan aspek psikomotorik dan afektif.
