Abstract

Effects of Watering Temperature on Seedling Growth of Chili (Capsicum annum L.)ABSTRACT. Researches of temperature effect on plant have yet to provide obvious results of how leaf temperature and media temperature differs plant growth. The research of objectives are to study effects of water temperature irrigated to media and water temperature sprayed to the leaves on chili seedling growth. Completely randomized block design was used in the research. The factor studied were water temperature for watering media and water temperature for spraying seedling leaves. The result showed that water temperature for spraying seedling leaves significantly affected all variables observed, including seedling height, seedling diameter, leaf size, wet weight of seedling, wet weight of the roots, dried weigh of seedling, and dried weigh of the roots. Water temperature for watering media did not significantly affect all variables observed. There were significant interactions between water temperature for watering media and water temperature for spraying seedling leaves on seedling diameter and leaf size. Water temperature of 120C for watering media in combination with normal water temperature for spraying seedling leaves was the best treatment combination, while water temperature of 120C for watering media in combination with 120C water temperature for spraying seedling leaves was the worst treatment.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui jarak tanam dan jumlah benih per lubang yang tepat terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman mentimun serta untuk mengetahui interaksi antara kedua faktor tersebut.  Penelitian dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala Darussalam Banda Aceh dari bulan Oktober sampai Desember 2009. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial 3 x 3 dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor yang diteliti yaitu jarak tanam (20 cm x 60 cm, 30 cm x 60 cm dan 40 cm x 60 cm) dan jumlah benih per lubang  (1, 2,dan 3 benih per lubang). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jarak tanam berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap berat buah per tanaman, serta berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang buah.  Buah per tanaman terberat dan terpanjang diperoleh pada jarak tanam 40 cm x 60 cm. Jumlah benih per lubang berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap diameter buah dan berat buah per tanaman, serta berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang batang utama umur 15 HST dan jumlah buah per tanaman. Diameter buah terbesar dan buah per tanaman terberat dijumpai pada penggunaan 1 benih per lubang,  sedangkan   jumlah buah per tanaman terbanyak diperoleh pada penggunaan 3 benih per lubang. Terdapat interaksi yang tidak nyata antara jarak tanam dan jumlah benih per lubang terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil mentimun. Plant Growth and Yield of Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) in Response to Different Spacing and Seed Numbers per HoleABSTRACT. The study was aimed at determining the right spacing and seed numbers per hole on growth and yield of cucumber plants and investigating interactions between the two factors. The study was conducted at the Experiment Station of Agriculture Faculty of Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh from October to December 2009. Experiment was arranged in a factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) 3 x 3 with three replications. Factors studied were plant spacing (20 cm x 60 cm, 30 cm x60 cm, and 40 cm x 60 cm) and seed numbers per hole (1, 2, and 3 seeds per hole). Results showed that plant spacing exerted a highly significant effect on fruit weight per plant and a significant effect on fruit length. The best fruit weight and length were obtained at a spacing of  40 cm x 60 cm. Seed numbers exerted highly significant effects on fruit diameter and fruit weight per plant and significant effects on main stem length at age 15 days after planting and fruit numbers per plant. The best fruit diameter and fruit weight per plant were found at 1 seed  per hole, while the best fruit numbers per plant was obtained at 3 seeds per hole. There was no significant interaction between plant spacing and seed numbers per hole on growth and yield of cucumber.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji jarak tanam sistem legowo pada beberapa varietas terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil padi. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menguji interaksi antara jarak tanam dengan varietas terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman padi. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan petak terpisah dengan empat ulangan. Faktor yang diteliti adalah (1) varietas, yang terdiri dari tiga taraf, yaitu Pandan Wangi, Ciherang, dan Cot Irie dan (2) jarak tanam, terdiri dari dua taraf, yaitu 21 cm x 10,5 cm x 42 cm dan 25 cm x 12,5 cm x 50 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa varietas tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah anakan produktif, tetapi berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap panjang malai dan hasil per ha. Galur Cot Irie memberikan panjang malai dan hasil per ha yang lebih baik dibanding varietas Ciherang dan Pandan Wangi, sementara Varietas Ciherang memberikan panjang malai dan hasil per ha yang tidak berbeda nyata dengan Varietas Pandan Wangi. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa jarak tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah anakan produktif, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang malai dan hasil per ha. Jarak tanam berbasis 25 cm secara signifikan memberikan jumlah anakan produktif lebih banyak dibanding jarak tanam berbasis 21 cm. Tidak ada interaksi antara varietas dan jarak tanam terhadap jumlah anakan, panjang malai, dan hasil per ha. Investigating Plant Spacing of Legowo System on Growth and Yield of Several Rice Varieties in SRI MethodABSTRACT. The objectives of this study were to examine plant spacing of legowo system on growth and yield of several varieties of rice and interaction between plant spacing and varieties on growth and yield of rice. This study used a split plot design with four replicates. Factors studied were (1) varieties, consisting of three levels, namely, Pandan Wangi, Ciherang, and Cot Irie and (2) plant spacing, consisting of two levels, namely 21 cm x 10.5 cm x 42 cm and 25 cm x 12.5 cm x 50 cm. Results showed that varieties did not significantly affect number of productive tillers, but significantly affected length of panicle and yield per ha. Cot Irie Line provided greater panicle and yield per hectare than Ciherang and Pandan Wangi Varieties, while Ciherang did not provide significantly different panicle and yield per hectare, compared to Pandan Wangi. Result also showed that plant spacing significantly affected number of productive tillers, but did not significantly affect length of panicle and yield per ha. Plant spacing on basis of 25 cm significantly provided more number of productive tillers than that of 21 cm. There were no significant interaction between varieties and plant spacing on number of tillers, length of panicle, and yield per ha.

Abstract

Effect of Growing Media and Sprinkling Frequency on Growth and Yield of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in Verticulture SystemAbstract. This study aims to determine the influence of growing media and watering frequency on growth and yield of lettuce using verticulture system and the interaction between the two factors. The design used was randomized block design (RBD) with factorial pattern. 4x3 and 3 replications, so there were 36 experimental units. There are two factors studied, namely factor planting medium (M) consist of four level, and watering frequency factor (P) consisting of three levels. The result showed that the effect of growing media and watering frequency on lettuce plant significantly to the growth and yield of lettuce plant, including plant height, length, width, and number of strands of lettuce of the age of 10, 20, 30 days after planting (DAP) and wet weight age 30 DAP. The best planting medium found in the soil planting medium. While the best watering frequency found 1 day 2 times. There was no significant interaction between the growing media and watering frequency on all growth variables and lettuce plants were observed.
