Abstract

This paper discusses about connectivity algorithm in simple graphs. The algorithm has three stages, namely, adjacent vertices search, adjacent vertices investigation and component investigation. The aim of connectivity algorithm is to check whether a graph is connected or disconnected with the scope set. There are three sets which are used in this algorithm, namely, vertex, edge and adjacent vertices sets. The simple graph is connected if the graph has only one component or if the number of adjacent vertices elements is equal to the number of vertices. Otherwise, if the simple graph has more than one component or if the number of adjacent vertices elements is not equal to the number of vertices then the algorithm will conclude that the graph is disconnected.

Abstract

Adobe Flash is a software that is used to build an interactive contents that can be attached in other things, such as presentations, games and e-learning. The Eulerian Circuit Search Instructional Media is one of examples in using Adobe Flash in building an interactive instructional media to solve graph theory problems. Visually, Adobe Flash is better than other programming software in general and it is the most suitable one for graph theory, as it uses graphics and visuals to solve problems. The weakness of Adobe Flash is when doing large scale calculations; such as when testing algorithms to find Eulerian circuits. Then an idea came about to complete the large scale calculations in Adobe Flash, which is commonly known as script time limit, with using other methodologies by changing script time limit on the settings, algorithms, partition the processes, and utulize the timers within the objects in the actionscript that handles the search algorithms of searching Eulerian circuit.

Abstract

Abstract. The aim of this research is to develop teaching media for mathematics specifically for materials on trigonometry using GUI Matlab. This media can be used as teaching and learning aid for students at senior high school, grade XI in the first semester. This learning media consists of instructions on how to use the media, learning materials, exercises and profile. The trigonometry materials which are discussed in this learning media consist of the sum and difference of two angles. The limitation on the angles that can be used are special angles in the interval -360o £ a,b £ 360o. The special angles are 0o, ±30o, ±45o, ±60o, ±90o, ±120o, ±135o, ±150o, ±180o, ±210o, ±225o, ±240o, ±270o, ±300o, ±315o, ±330o, and ±360o. The trigonometry functions such as sinus, cosine and as well as the operation addition (+) and subtraction (-) can be selected by hitting the appropriate button. Within each step, there is a check button and a next button to check the input true or false. If the value that entered incorrectly then the next step will not displayed and warning box will appear to report the location of error. Users have to fix the error in order to continue to the next step.  Keywords: teaching learning media, trigonometry, GUI Matlab

Abstract

Abstract. Science and technology have been rapidly evolved in some fields of knowledge, including mathematics. Such development can contribute to improvements on the learning process that encourage students and teachers to enhance their abilities and performances. In delivering the material on the linear equation system with two variables (SPLDV), the conventional teaching method where teachers become the center of the learning process is still well-practiced. This method would cause the students get bored and have difficulties to understand the concepts they are learning. Therefore, in order to the learning of SPLDV easy, an interesting, interactive media that the students and teachers can apply is necessary. This media is designed using GUI MATLAB and named as students’ electronic worksheets (e-LKS). This program is intended to help students in finding and understanding the SPLDV concepts more easily. This program is also expected to improve students’ motivation and creativity in learning the material. Based on the test using the System Usability Scale (SUS), the design of interactive mathematics learning media of the linear equation system with Two Variables (SPLDV) gets grade B (excellent), meaning that this learning media is proper to be used for Junior High School students of grade VIII.Keyword: SPLDV, Learning Media, Students’ Electronic Worksheet (e-LKS) *Judul ini telah dipresentasikan pada Seminar Nasional: Indonesian Students Conference on Science and Mathematics(ISCSM) 11-12 November 2015, Banda Aceh Indonesia
