Abstract

Duriangkang Reservoir including the estuary resevoir is built by makingresevoir at the estuary of Duriangkang River. The main function ofDuriangkang Reservoir is the raw water resources to support 78 % ofdrinking wate supply needs on Batam Island. One of several problem ofDuriangkang eservoir is erosion as a result of land clearing and building ofland at Duriangkang Catchment area. Based on the research,sedimentation rate at Duriangkang Catchment area system is as themayor sources that potentially influence the carrying capacity ofDuriangkang Reservoir.In this study, an influence to carrying capacity ofDuriangkang Reservoir is conducted toward sedimentation rate atDuriangkang Reservoir by measuring the water column depth ofDuriangkang Reservoir.

Abstract

Duriangkang resevoir (62.000.000 m ) physically located in DuriangkangCatchement Area of Batam island. The main function of Duriangkangresevoir is the water resources to support 78 % of drinking water supplyneeds of Batam Island with the processing capacity amounting to 3000liter/second. The main problem of Duriangkang Reservoir are : (1)industrial waste water from Batamindo Industrial Zone has been extremelypolluted with COD conten (134,61 mg/liter) exceeding the Waste WaterQuality Standard Group II (80 mg/liter), (2) domestically waste water fromdomestic activity in Duriangkang Catchment Area has also beenextremely polluted with BOD5 conten (58,22 mg/liter) exceeding theWaste Water Quality Standard Group II (50 mg/liter). Abstract

Duriangkang Reservoir is located in the Duriangkang River Basin, Batam Island. The main problem of Duriangkang Reservoir is that industrial wastewater from the Batamindo Industrial Area has been heavily polluted with COD levels (134.61 mg/liter) exceeding the Wastewater Quality Standards for Class II (80 mg/liter), domestic wastewater from domestic activities in the Duriangkang Watershed has also been heavily polluted with BOD5 levels (58.22 mg/liter) exceeding the Wastewater Quality Standards for Class II (50 mg/liter). This study aims to examine the effect of industrial wastewater and domestic wastewater on the carrying capacity of Duriangkang Reservoir. The main function of Duriangkang Reservoir is as a water resource to support 78% of the drinking water supply needs of Batam Island with a processing capacity of 3000 liters/second.
