Posisi pasien Jerhadap auatu prosedur operasi sering merupakan suatu keterkaltan erat antara peogarub ancstesi terhadap pasien secara strulcrural dan fisiologis, dan posisi yang diperlukan oleh tim bedah untuk meoc:apai targe1 organ operui. Perubahao fisiologis dapat terjadi alcibat penyakit itu sendiri maupun trauma yang dapat terjadi mulai dari pen,baban posisi dari tempat tidur ke meja transport, melalui koridor atau elevator, clan ketik memindahkan ke alas meja opemi. Respon tubub temadap perubahan posisi merupalwl realcsi temadap gravitasi. Sebahagian besar perubahan berkaitan dengan efelc gravitui terhadap darab dan distribusinya terhadap sistem venosus, pulmonal dan arterial. Terdapat juga perubahan penting terhadap mekanisme clan perfusi pulmonal. Perubahan ini menemulkan efek pada sistem rcspirasi dan kardiovaslcular. Penempatan posisi yang tidak benar dapat menimnbulkan bahaya terhadap pasien serte menimliulkan berbagai komplikui.
