Abstract

Abstract– The quality of supply system is found to be very effective in deteriorating the performance of three phase induction motors, a class of electrical machines which is widely used in industrial power systems. This paper presents an attempt to identify the impacts of harmonics and unbalance on induction motor performance. The presence of voltage magnitude and/or phase angle unbalance in the supply system is considered as well as harmonics distortion.  Computer simulations of a VFD fed induction motor under different quality conditions of supply system are implemented using Powersim (PSIM). Six scenarios of harmonics contained supply system are tested, i.e. scenario 1 : balanced voltage magnitude, balanced phase angle and balanced transformer; scenario 2 : balanced voltage magnitude, balanced phase angle and unbalanced transformer; scenario 3 : unbalanced voltage magnitude, balanced phase angle and balanced transformer; scenario 4 : unbalanced voltage magnitude, balanced phase angle and unbalanced transformer; scenario 5 : balanced voltage magnitude, unbalanced phase angle and balanced transformer, and scenario 6 : balanced voltage magnitude, unbalanced phase angle and unbalanced transformer. The test results indicate that the quality of supply system has significant impacts on the speed and mechanical torque of three phase induction motor operating with harmonics contained and unbalanced supply system.   Keywords– harmonics, unbalance, voltage magnitude, phase angle, induction motor.

Abstract

Abstract This research is indicate that the ability of early warning system technology in giving information early related to floods quickly and nowadays especially in watching condition of rainfall and ebb intensively. Therefore require to be designed by appliance which can give the early information to society in region of gristle of floods disaster to conduct actions which require to be drawn up by before the happening of disaster. Location of floods gristle selected by countryside of sand the mempawah subdistrict go downstream the forewarning system designed use the programmable logic controller (PLC) and system can give result of information in the form of forewarning indicator which is depend on storey, water height level, that is normal level, attentive level, alert level and caution level. Water height level can be watched from face door irrigate as one of appliance to support the system of forewarning floods disaster. Design result to develop, build this appliance is very be of benefit to society in doing early anticipation possible the happening of floods disaster, so that loss generated by effect of floods disaster felt by society during the time earn the minimum. The existence of forewarning appliance is threatened society of danger can act during which is last for lessening possibility of the happening of hurt victim, loss of soul, and destroy the good and chattel. Abstract

Abstract This paper presents the effects cause by non-linear load which containing harmonic components on the rating of power transformer. The usage of non-linear load will simply relates to the increased of transformer temperature. The abnormal heat rise in the transformer will lead to deterioration and increase the potential reduction of its lifetime. Due to the increased of heat, load supplied by the transformer should be reduced or to supply the same load, the power transformer should be changed to a higher rating to sustain the heat rise and these phenomenon known as de-rating. The selection of higher rating transformer is based on load THD where transformer kVA is a function of THD with the assumption that THD, transformers temperature and rating are stay linearity.
