Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisa beberapa fenomena yang dialami oleh para dosen yang mengajar matakuliah bahasa Inggris untuk mahasiswa Non-Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Bina Darma Palembang dengan permasalahan berupa motivasi belajar. Analisa yang dilakukan dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui tinggi rendahnya motivasi mahasiswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggis serta jenis motivasi apa yang mereka miliki. 60 mahasiswa yang dipilih dengan menggunakan purposive sampling yang diseleksi oleh dosen kelas pada mahasiswa dari berbagai jurusan sebagai responden yang menjawab 15 pertanyaan yang diajukan oleh penulis. Hasil dari kuestioner yang didistribusikan menggambarkan bahwa mahasiswa memiliki tingkat motivasi intrinsik yang rendah dan tingkat motivasi yang sedang untuk motivasi ekstrinsik. Beberapa hal baru yang harus diketahui oleh para dosen bahasa Inggris terdapat pada studi ini.Kata Kunci: Motivasi, Bahasa InggrisAbstract. This study aims to analyze some of the phenomena experienced by lecturers who teach English courses for Non-English students at Bina Darma University Palembang with problems in the form of learning motivation. The analysis carried out was intended to find out the level of motivation of students in learning English and what type of motivation they had. 60 students were selected by using purposive sampling selected by class lecturers for students from various departments as respondents who answered 15 questions posed by the author. The results of the distributed questionnaire illustrate that students have a low level of intrinsic motivation and a moderate level of motivation for extrinsic motivation. Some new things that must be known by English lecturers are found in this study.Keywords: Motivation, English Language

Abstract

This paper presents a study on potentialities of old buildings in seven historical areas of Palembang; Fort Kuto Besak, Ampera Bridge, Grand Mosque, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum, Mayors Office Building, and Kampung Kapitan, that can be explored deeper to be cultural and heritage tourism. To conduct this study, research area was used and to collect the data and information, publications, reports, and observation were the main tools to collect the data. The results indicate that  the old buildings of cultural and heritage tourism in Palembang are reflections of the multi-ethnic societies of the era such as Dutch, Arab, Indian, and Palembang Darussalam Sultanate, and dominantly they lie  at riverside of Musi river as being the earliest settlements. It also shows that people from other ethnicities can live in harmony and tolerance.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the digital literacy of PGRI Palembang University's potential teacher candidates. Questionnaires are used in this kind of descriptive quantitative study. One hundred randomly selected students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at PGRI University of Palembang served as the research subjects. Digital literacy questionnaires with indicators for managing, generating, integrating, assessing, and accessing information were used to gather data. The correlation product moment used for instrument validation with the outcomes of every questionnaire item is significant (Sig. < 0.05). Positive Pearson correlation and instrument reliability, as measured by Alpha Cronbach's values of 0.750 > 0.50, indicate the validity and reliability of the instrument. A descriptive analysis is performed on the data to find the percentage of each indication. The findings demonstrated that 80% of indicators fell into the essential skills category for information access, 75% of indicators fell into the management category, 74% of indicators fell into evaluation, 73% of indicators fell into integration, 60% of indicators fell into the insufficient skills category, and 70% of indicators fell into communication. These findings demonstrate that PGRI University of Palembang prospective teacher candidates' digital literacy profiles included markers of information creation. Consequently, it is essential to support pupils' digital literacy.
