Abstract

PT. X is a company that manufactures motorcycle parts, one of its’ product is motor chain. PT. X sells two kinds of products, namely OEM and aftermarket. OEM products are manufactured products, while aftermarket products are brand products. Some examples of aftermarket products are chains, v-belts, air filters, and chain kits. Aftermarket products are divided into two, namely RM products and brands. Aftermarket products are manufactured by using “make to stock” principle. This kind of production process that implement these principles should have good forecasting and good order fulfillment planning. All this time, PT. X does not have any plan related to two factors which have been mentioned above, thus, PT. X often experiences stock buildup and backorder. These problems can be overcome by making production planning in the form of Master Production Schedule (MPS), where the MPS will display the amount of production that will be carried out each month. The amount of the production can be obtained by forecasting. By using the MPS, PT. X is expected to be able to reduce the accumulation of stock that occurs and the backorder. The decrease in the number of backorder will have an impact on customer satisfaction of PT. X.

Abstract

PT X is an industry that running the fodder production. Each machine in this industry has important role to produce the fodder, so it has to be well maintain for the best performance and result. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) used to measure the machine effectiveness. Maintenance department has settle the target of OEE that is 60%, but in realization pellet machine 1 and 8 only got 59.6% and 56.32%. An effort to improve OEE is for minimize the biggest losses from six big losses and the biggest Downtime from pellet machine 1 and 8. The biggest losses that causing OEE getting low at pellet machine 1 and 8 is because small stop and slow running losses, while the top downtime from both of the machine is cooler clean-up and waiting for mixer. Main cause from the problem above is obtained by using the fishbone diagram. Each cause is analyzed to obtain the solution. One of the solution is to provide time on pellet machine 1 and 8 for clean-up, checking, and/or repairing by 1.61 hours and 0.9 hours at the same time. The solution resulted in an increase of OEE on pellet machine 1 and 8 by 3.44% and 4.54%.

Abstract

The raw material used for the production process, 70% comes from outsourcing. Thishigh percentage is the main challenge for PT SEMB to control and ensure raw material is readywhen needed. The consignment model has a minimum limit and a maximum limit. The materialwill be kept at PT SEMB, while not being used these raw materials still owned by the suppliers, and the place to keep this material is not registered as PT SEMB in the system. This meansconsignment material should have a low inventory level because the ownership will change onlywhen the material is used, but the problem is from January to March 2019 inventory levelconsignment material has increased. One of the main problems is outdated information formaterial limits (min-max). This problem solved by making tools that can adjust materials limit(min-max) with the production process and at the same time, it's adjusted with the manpower todo the replenishment process at Lot 15. Improvement also made by changing the person whodoing open consignment from leader Lot 15 to warehouse leader Sensor plant. The results forthis improvement are decreasing average inventory levels from $362,221 (January-March 2019)to $240,327 (May 2019). Decreasing is approximately 33%

Abstract

PT X is an automotive company that operates as a manufacturer, assembler, and distributor in and outside the country. PT X is a subsidiary of a multinational company. PT X uses the Just In Time (JIT) principle, so it does not have inventory (zero inventory). PT X produces motorbikes that have a type and color type, where motorbikes produced will be distributed to 29 main dealers. Land distribution will use trucks provided by the transporters, where the trucks used will be regulated in accordance with government regulations. The regulation issued by the government regarding this matter is the rule of Over Dimension Overload (ODOL), where the regulation regulates the dimensions of the trucks used to transport goods. The use of dashboards is a solution to simplify the process of monitoring and controlling the condition of each truck at each main dealer. The use of dashboards for monitoring and control processes is more effective and efficient, because the dashboard can provide a lot of information through just one view. The use of the dashboard increases the progress of improvement, where in January 2019 only 63.13% to 76.55% in April 2019.

PT SEMB is a company that works in the production of electrical components related to energy management and automation. The problem that occurs is the order made in the present conditions is still not optimal, causing the inventory level to be high. The study was conducted to help the company to be able to reduce the inventory costs and transportation costs. Direct delivery is a system that helps to reduce the inventory level and cost to the cost of goods ordered. The simulation that has been done for direct system can provide savings of up to 50,000 USD. Savings obtained from this direct system if applied to all local suppliers will reduce the cost of 280,000 USD compared to the current conditions. In addition, milk-run studies are also used to material pick-up methods. This method can also reduce the transportation costs until 900 USD.
