Abstract

PT.X is one of the leading tobacco companies in Indonesia and in the world which produce cigarettes. Material requirement planning that can optimize inventory levels is an important thing to do. This study focuses on determining safety time level and methods used in planning hinge lid and soft label for affiliated companies in Philippines. The company is currently ordering materials using the concept of safety time in SAP. The safety time used today is not optimal because criticality or the estimated occurrence of shortage is still common.Simulation shows that there are around 156 times of criticality occurs in the initial condition, 72 times on the suggested safety time using simulation, and 76 times on the converted safety stock to safety time suggestion. The simulation of ROP-EOQ concept carried out on 20 types of material resulted in 59 criticality occurences, while the use of the suggested safety time concept only 9 occurences. Simulations carried out based on total inventory cost show the best results occur when using the safety time generated by trial and error simulation. The proposed trial and error simulation resulted in a decrease in the total inventory cost of Rp758,547,044.03 or around 27.65% from the initial condition.

Abstract

PT. X is engaged in cigarette manufacturing and is one of the leading tobacco companies in Indonesia and even the world. Planning to supply materials is a very important part of the production process. This research focuses on efficiency that can be done to simplify and accelerate the process of conducting various material supply planning activities. The two activities that will be discussed are PR review and material readiness. The efficiency process carried out is by making a proposal template that will facilitate the user in carrying out his activities. PR review templates that have been made are able to shorten the required activity time by 69.68%. While the material readiness template that was made was able to shorten the time of activities by 81.13%.

Abstract

PT. X is a manufacturing company that manufactures dermatological products. Inventory of raw materials becomes an important factor in production activities. This research focuses on the inventory and arrangement of  tube materials in the warehouse. The company is currently purchasing goods by estimating demand from past data and ROP. Determination of ROP and EOQ is done by using a simulation method. The results of simulation of raw material inventory show the total cost of proposed inventory and the percentage of shortage is better. The initial total cost of inventory is Rp3,616,786,638 and the proposed condition is Rp1,736,032,454. The inventory simulation results will be used to make for raw material arrangement layout proposal. The arragement proposal for tube materials is done by sorting fast moving products and slow moving products. Fast moving products are arranged with a dedicated storage policy, while for slow moving products are arranged with class based storage policy. The order of placement of each type of tube is based on the highest number of stocks. The arrangement proposal is better than the initial conditions based on warehouse utility and moments. The average warehouse utility increased by 1.82% and there was a reduction in the initial layout moment by 64.55%.
