Abstract

The increasing market competition in the Indonesian automotive manufacturing industry requires automotive manufacturing companies to adapt to changes through product development activities. Unfortunately, failure in product development projects is still high. One of the possible key factors of a successful product development project is work motivation. Another factor that is suspected to affect is the complexity of the project. Therefore, this study aims to find the effect of work motivation and project complexity on product development project performance. The research was conducted on 94 members of product development project team in Indonesian automotive manufacturing industry with a minor change scale using purposive sampling. Data was collected through online questionnaire with a response rate of 65.7% and then analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results of the study showed that project complexity had a positive effect on work motivation and otherwise on project performance. On the other hand, it turns out that work motivation is not proven to affect the performance of product development projects in the automotive manufacturing industry in Indonesia.

Abstract

Lingga Village, located in the highlands of Karo Regency, has many kinds of fresh vegetables, and one of the most demanding is the carrot. However, the problem faced by the farmer is that they need more knowledge about the management process, such as the fluctuation of carrot sales prices, the malformation of carrot growth, limited marketing opportunities, and training about it. Therefore, this community service aimed to assist these farmers in finding possible solutions using the ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) method. The main topic delivered was handling price fluctuations in carrots; preventing the malformation of carrot growth; carrot business potential; and e-commerce-based business development. The results show that the owner still needed to start using the exact formula for the fertilizer composition. Therefore, the team gave the suggestion based on the Ministry of Agriculture’s recommendation. Some potential ways to expand the business suggestion are consignment with traders/conventional shops/supermarkets or even selling the product through e-commerce platforms. However, the owner has limitations in using technology and needs help from relatives, especially the youths. To conclude, the owner should start the expansion with the WhatsApp business because that platform that has been widely used and is easier to maintain.

Abstract

Recent shifts in higher education have prompted many universities to adopt new instructional environments, notably hybrid learning models. However, researchers have identified that navigating these hybrid systems can induce significant stress among students. Given that internal personal resources, particularly spirituality, are recognized as vital coping mechanisms for academic stress in highly religious societies, they have significant potential to buffer these negative impacts. Consequently, this study aimed to explore the spiritual experiences of Industrial Engineering students and investigate their correlation with burnout levels within a hybrid learning framework. An online survey was administered to 98 undergraduate students in the Industrial Engineering Department at Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta between February and March 2022. Reliability analysis using Cronbach’s alpha confirmed the internal consistency of the survey instruments for this cohort. A MANOVA revealed significant differences in the Spiritual Index between gender groups and significant variations in burnout levels across academic years. Correlation analyses revealed a significant negative association specifically between spiritual levels and the loss of academic efficacy (r = -0.264; p-value < .05). While general negative trends were also observed with overall burnout, emotional exhaustion, and cynicism, these particular correlations were not statistically significant. The findings suggest that strong spiritual experiences can foster greater life satisfaction, mitigating burnout. Overall, the students exhibited moderate levels of burnout during their hybrid learning experience. It can be concluded that a robust sense of spirituality may help bolster self-esteem and serve as a protective factor against burnout in hybrid educational settings. These findings imply that higher education institutions should proactively integrate student wellness programs that accommodate spiritual and social experiences to effectively mitigate the risk of burnout during hybrid learning transitions.
