Abstract

Total ada 15 negara yang menandatangani perjanjian RCEP yaitu 10 negara ASEAN ditambah 5 negara mitra lain seperti Tiongkok, Jepang, Korea Selatan, Australia dan Selandia Baru (ASEAN +5).This article will focus on the theoretical study of regionalism in seeing the development of RCEP as a mega trade deal. The discussion will be carried out by dissecting the concept of regionalism brought up by Louise Fawcett as a thinker of International Relations from England. Fawcett divides the types of Regionalism into Old Regionalism and New Regionalism. This classification cannot be separated from the Cold War era in the 1980s which marked the beginning of the rise of the ASEAN as a reference point in the development of regionalism. As a matter of fact, RCEP is an important sphere in Indonesia's chairmanship in ASEAN. A major trade agreement like this connects the five trade agreements that have been made previously between ASEAN and the five partner countries. A total of 15 countries have signed the RCEP agreement, namely 10 ASEAN countries plus 5 other partners such as China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand (ASEAN +5).
