Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui (i) perbedaan kemampuan menulis siswa setelah diajar menggunakan textless comic, dan (ii) untuk mengetahui respon para siswa terhadap pengajaran menulis teks naratif dengan menggunakan textless comic. Sasaran penelitian sebanyak 30 siswa dari kelas tiga SMP N 20 Bandar Lampung.Tes menulis digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (i) adanya peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa yang signifikan dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.05, dan (ii) respon siswa menunjukan bahwa belajar menggunakan textless comic dapat meningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks naratif. Hal ini menandakan bahwa media texless comic memberikan kesempetan kepada siswa dalam penyampaian dan mengembangkan ide dengan mudah.The aims of this study are to find out (i) the difference of students writing ability between the pretest and the posttest by using textless comic, and (ii) students responses of teaching writing narrative text by using textless comic.This research used quantitative and qualitative method. The subjects of this research were 30 students at the third year of SMP N 20 Bandar Lampung. The writing test was administrated as the instrument of the research.The result showed that (i) there was a statistically significant difference of students writing ability between the pre test and the post test with the significant level 0.05, and (ii) textless comic is believed to improve the students writing narrative text. This suggests that textless comic gives oppurtunities for students to share and develop the ideas more easily.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan kemampuan penguasaan kosakata setelah pembelajaran dengan menggunakan strategi word mapping. Desain penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa kelas X IPS 3. Tes kosakata dalam bentuk pilihan ganda digunakan sebagai alat pengambilan data. Hasil menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik pada kemampuan penguasaan kosakata siswa dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.00 0.05. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan strategi word mapping dapat membantu siswa untuk mengembangkan kosakata dengan mudah dan membantu memahami teks yang diberikan.The aim of this study was to find out whether there was a statistically significant improvement of the students vocabulary mastery after the students were taught through word mapping strategy. This research was quantitative research. The subjects of this research were 32 students of class X IPS 3. The vocabulary test in the form of multiple choice was administrated as the instrument of this research. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvement of the students vocabulary mastery with the significant level 0.05. It could be inferred that teaching activity through word mapping strategy facilitates the students to develop the vocabulary and to understand the text easily.Keywords: word mapping strategy, vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan: i) hubungan antara strategi membaca kritis siswa dengan keterampilan pemahaman membaca mereka, dan ii) aspek – aspek pemahaman membaca apa yg berhubungan secara signifikan dengan strategi membaca kritis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa tingkat kedua SMKN 1 Kotabumi, Lampung Utara. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam  penelitian ini adalah kuesioner dan tes pemahaman membaca. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik ada hubungan yang signifikan  antara strategi membaca kritis siswa dengan pemahaman membaca mereka. Selain itu, aspek inferensi, menentukan ide pokok, dan mengidentifikasi informasi di dalam teks secara statistik memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan strategi membaca kritis siswa. Ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi membaca kritis memfasilitasi siswa untuk meningkatan kemampuan membaca mereka. The objectives of this research were to find out: i) the correlation between the students’ critical reading strategies and their reading comprehension achievement and ii)  which aspects of reading comprehension significantly correlate with students’ critical reading strategies. This research was quantitative research. The subjects of this research were 30 students of SMKN 1 Kotabumi, North Lampung. The data were collected through questionnaire and reading comprehension test. The result showed that there was a statistically significant correlation between the students’ critical reading strategies and their reading comprehension achievement. Furthermore, reading aspects in terms of inference, determining main idea, and identifying specific information of the text had a statistically significant correlation with the students’ critical reading strategies. Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate whether there is a significant difference of the students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught through Think-Pair-Share (TPS) and to find the problem that the students face during the application of TPS. The population of this research was the second year students of SMPN 8 Bandar Lampung consisting of nine classes. One group pre-test and post-test design was carried out to analyze the significant difference. Besides that, the interview was done to see the problems that the students face. By comparing between the mean of pre-test (x=50.44) and post-test (x=62.89), it can be found that the increase of the mean was 12.45. It proved that the technique has effective because p0.05 (p=0.00). Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a significant difference of students’ achievement in reading comprehension achievement before and after being taught through TPS and the problems occurred during the teaching-learning concerned with the students’ concentration and their ability in getting the main idea and inferring the difficult words. Therefore, this technique is recommended to be used by teachers to improve the students’ reading comprehension.Keywords: reading comprehension, think-pair-share, TPS technique

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan siswa dalam pemahaman membaca melalui penerapan teknik Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dan mengetahui aspek membaca yang paling meningkat. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X IPS 3 Sekolah Menengah Atas. Penelitian ini menggunakan satu kelompok desain pretest-posttest dengan instrumen tes membaca. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman membaca teks naratif pada siswa karena level signifikansi menunjukan 0.000.05, dan aspek yang paling signifikan meningkat adalah menentukan ide pokok. Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa teknik Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dapat digunakan sebagai teknik alternatif untuk meningkatkan prestasi pemahaman membaca siswa.The aims of this research were to find out whether there was an improvement in students’ reading comprehension after being taught through Think-Pair-Share (TPS) technique and find out the aspect of reading that improved the most. The sample of this research was tenth grade students of IPS 3 on Senior High School. This research applied one group pretest-posttest design using reading test as the instrument. The findings showed that there was an improvement in students’ reading comprehension in narrative text since the significant value was 0.000.05, and the most significant improved aspect was determining main idea. This result proved that teaching reading using Think-Pair-Share (TPS) technique could be used as an alternative technique to improve students’ reading comprehension achievement.Keywords: think pair share technique, reading comprehension, narrative text.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find  out whether there is improvement of students’ micro skills of listening achievement after being taught through drills technique. This research was quantitative research using one group pretest-posttest design. The researcher used one class as the experimental group and it was selected by using simple probability sampling. The population of this research was the second year students of SMP Negeri 3 Bandar Lampung that consists of seven classes. The result of the research showed that there is a significant difference of students’ achievement in micro skills of listening. The mean score of pre-test was 47.52 and post-test was 57.55. By comparing between the mean of pre-test and post-test, it can be found that the increase of the mean was 10.03. It proved that the students’ scores increase significantly because the value of t-ratio is higher than t-table (9.2292.042). It can be concluded that there is a significant difference of students’ achievement in micro skills of listening before and after being taught through drills technique.Keywords: drills, increase, listening, micro skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi: validitas, keandalan, tingkat kesulitan, daya beda dan kualitas pilihan di SMP Negeri 2 Sumberejo di tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Peneliti meneliti ujian akhir semester yang berjumlah 50 soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa validitas konstruknya valid, validitas isinya valid, dan validitas mukanya tidak valid. Keandalan (alpha) adalah 0.592. Tingkat kesulitan tes terdiri dari 22 item (44%) diterima, 21 item (42%) perlu diperbaiki, 7 item (14%) perlu dibuang. Daya beda terdiri dari 15 item (30%) diterima, 12 item (24%) perlu dibuang, dan 23 item (46%) perlu dicek. Kualitas pilihan adalah 26 pilihan (15%) diterima, 89 pilihan (85%) perlu diperbaiki dan perlu dibuang. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kualitas soal tersebut sedang.The objectives of this research are to identify the validity, the reliability, the level of difficulty, the discriminating power andthe quality of the alternatives of the final semester test at the second year of SMP Negeri 2 Sumberejo in 2016/2017 academic year. The researcher investigated the final semester test which consisted of 50 items. The result shows that the construct validity is valid, the content validity is valid, but the face validity is not valid. The reliability is 0.592 or in average level. The level of difficulty of the test which consists of 22 items (44%) is acceptable, 21 items (42%) need revising, and 7 items (14%) should be dropped. The discriminating power which consists of 15 items (30%) is acceptable, 12 items (24%) are need revising, and 23 items (4%) need dropping. The quality of the alternatives is 26 options (15%) acceptable, 89 options (85%) need revising and need dropping. In general, it shows that the quality of the test is moderate.Keywords: quality of the alternatives, reliability, validity.
