Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to know the effectiveness of realistic mathematics education viewed by students understanding of mathematical concepts. The population of this research was all grade eight students on second semester of SMP Negeri 8 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2014/2015. The samples of this research were students of VIII-E and VIII-F class that were chosen by purposive sampling. This research used posttest only control group design. The data of students understanding of mathematical concepts were obtained by essay test. Based on the result of research, it was concluded that the implementation of realistic mathematics education was effective viewed by students understanding of mathematical concepts.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pendekatan matematika realistik ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII semester genap SMP Negeri 8 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-E dan VIII-F yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan posttest only control group design. Data pemahaman konsep matematis siswa diperoleh dari tes uraian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan pendekatan matematika realistik efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Kata kunci: efektivitas, pemahaman konsep, pendekatan matematika realistik
