Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is a qualitative study with intrepretative paradigm, and it aims to describe and explain about how the organization culture can be also take a part in the process of gatekeping due to the publication process.            The research results indicate that domination value of collectivism culture in media organization tend to lead the policy as well as the gatekeeping process for avoiding confrontation style in seeking and processing the news. In another side, the research results also indicate that domination value of individualism culture tend to lead the gatekeeping process more flexible depend on intuition and feeling of the journalist. Sometimes the journalist using a confrontation style in seeking and processing the news. However, even the media organization tend to have domination value of collectivism or individualism culture, both of them are conduct the process of gatekeeping based on the code of ethic and having an orientation to public sphere as well as their goals that are not only about making money, but also the pursuit of a certain ideal values.  Keywords: value of collectivism, value of individualism, public sphere

Abstract

Stress in the workplace is not a new phenomenon. Effective stress management at work makes employees capable of controling themselves in work environment so they will accept potential problems as challenge and not as threat. The research results indicate that emotional quotient and interpersonal communication have close influence to stress management. Moreover, organizational commitment does not have significant influence to stress management at work. The research results also uncover that interpersonal communication has significant influence to organizational commitment. In this matter, the influence depends on how close and urgent individual has to keep having relationships to some social groups/organizations. However, organizational commitment does not have significant influence to interpersonal communciation. As a life consequences in the information age, individual can select a kind of communication from traditional to electronic media as a way of maintaining self commitment to organization.

Abstract

The role of communication in an organization is absolute. Communication in organizations, both formal and informal is done through interpersonal communication. Through the workshop it is hoped that there will be an increase in insight and knowledge that interpersonal communication, as a form of behavior, can change from very effective to very ineffective, and can prevent conflicts. The training method is divided into two. First, through the delivery of material (classical) relating to aspects of knowledge. Second, through group discussions and simulations relating to aspects of attitude. The training material is seen as useful in delivering participants to better understand the effectiveness of interpersonal communication and its relation to work conflict management.ABSTRAK: Peran komunikasi dalam suatu organisasi sangat mutlak. Sebagian besar kegiatan komunikasi yang dilakukan dalam organisasi baik formal maupun informal dilakukan melalui komunikasi antar pribadi. Melalui workshop diharapkan akan terdapat peningkatan wawasan dan pengetahuan bahwa komunikasi antar pribadi, sebagai suatu bentuk perilaku dapat berubah dari sangat efektif ke sangat tidak efektif, dan dapat mencegah pertentangan yang akan menimbulkan konflik. Metode pelatihan terbagi dua. Pertama melalui penyampaian materi (classical) berkaitan dengan aspek knowledge. Kedua melalui diskusi kelompok dan simulasi berkaitan dengan aspek attitude. Materi pelatihan dirasakan bermanfaat dalam ‘menghantar’ peserta untuk lebih memahami efektivitas komunikasi antarpribadi dan kaitannya dengan manajemen konflik kerja.
