Abstract

Internet has been used in all aspects such as in the military, social, business, and education started from elementary school up to university. Nowadays, each university has used internet to convey information fast. At University of Brawijaya, internet also has been used centrally in the process of selection of student admission through the use of web. However, Vocational Education of Brawijaya University has particular criteria for performance assessment in the process of selection of student admission, particularly for those majoring in Banking, Secretary as well as Tourism and Hospitality. Regarding this, it is then necessary to design a student admission system at Vocational Education by using PHP programming language, HTML, CSS, Javascript and MySQL database. This system is expected to ease prospective students to obtain information related to the selection process started from enrollment until admission announcement; ease the head of Vocational Education to get the report related to the result of the selection of student admission; reduce fraud in the selection process; and assist the academic department in processing data related to major preference based on the result of written and performance tests.

Abstract

The advancement of education in Indonesia, especially Universities tinged with a large problem. One of these problems is the lack of relevance between universities and business and industry (DUDI). In order to overcome these problem, Vocational Education at UB then has designed program the so-called “Kuliah Keahlian”. The implementation of KK aims to provide students majoring in Business and Information Management Expertise Multimedia an opportunity to know the business world and the real world industry (facts), to understand what is really happening in the world of business and industry, to apply the theories that have been obtained in the regular course (KR), and to improve their confidence for facing the fact that it turns out they are capable and highly master practical jobs that exist in the DUDI and to increase public trust in the ability and mastery of vocational program graduates. This study is qualitative whose result shows that the implementation of KK is quite well-done and it has given positive impact to the students which is shown by the increasing number of students who already have their own business (52% of students) after the implementation of KK.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that influence the management of records in the general and academic sub-divisions in University of Brawijaya This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. Informants in the study are the Head of the general and / or academic sub-divisions in Vocational Education, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Animal Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science. Instrument used are observation sheet, interview guide and questionnaire. The findings show that factors influencing the management of records in UB include lack of budget to support archival unit: working environment archival that include temperature, humidity, lighting; availability of the archive room; lack of employees majoring in archive; unavailability of SOP regarding record keeping in the Faculty of Brawijaya University; inadequate facilitie; and not standardized recording system. Regarding this, the faculties in University of Brawijaya, including Vocational Education Program, are suggested to have better record management for dynamic archives in the general and academic sub-division.
