Abstract

ABSTRAKMembaca adalah salah satu keterampilan bahasa yang perlu di kembangkan oleh berbagai jenjang pendidikan, karena membaca merupakan salah satu hal yang penting dalam pembelajaran disamping menulis, mendengar, dan berbicara. Dengan membaca kita lebih banyak mengetahui hal-hal yang dulunya tidak kita ketahui serta mampu memahami isi bacaan dengan baik, kususnya pada teks yang menggunakan bahasa inggris. Dari teks yang dibaca tersebut kita dapat memperoleh informasi, terkadang minat pembaca kita akan timbul apabila kita melihat suatu bacaan yang berhubungan dengan hal yang kita senangi. Minat yang timbul itu merupakan dorongan yang membuat kita merasa tertarik untuk membaca dan memahami apa yang di sampaikan oleh penulis melalui tulisannya.Untuk proses belajar mengajar bahasa inggris, diperlukan adanya metode pengerjaan yang tepat dan efektif, yang bisa membantu siswa untuk dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mereka di dalam belajar bahasa inggris. Teaching reading by combining Group Investigation and SQUIRT (sustained quiet reading time) adalah sebagai salah satu metode dalam pengajaran membaca di kelas, yang dapat membantu siswa mengidentifikasi konsep secara baik dan pertanyaan yang berhubungan dengan teks, dan siswa dapat memahami teks dengan mudah.Penulis berharap makalah ini dapat berguna bagi para pembaca dan kususnya pada guru bahasa inggris sebagai salah satu metode alternatif yang diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran membaca.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between students' habits in listening to English pop songs and speaking ability. Researchers use the correlational method using the correlational method using a quantitative approach. There are two variables in this research. Students' habit of listening to English pop songs as the independent variable (variable X) and students' speaking ability as the dependent variable (variable Y). The students' habits in listening to English pop songs were obtained from the questionnaire, while the students' speaking ability was obtained from the speaking performance test results. The population of this study involved students of SMAN 1 Bukit Sundi in the 2023/2024 academic year consisting of 160 students. Samples were taken using a random sampling technique that is 20% as many as 32 students. From the results of calculating the correlation with SPSS 26, it can be seen that the correlation value is 0.051 which is interpreted as a positive correlation at a weak level. The result of the correlation between students' habit of listening to English pop songs is significantly correlated with speaking skill  of (0.361) and  of 0.349. Therefore, the correlation between students' habit of listening to English pop song  of (0.361) is related to speaking skill and  (0.349). The results of the correlation between students' habit in listening to English pop song with a significant correlation value with speaking skill  (0.361) and  (0.349). Therefore, the correlation between students' habit of listening to English pop song  (0.361) correlated with the speaking skill (0,539).

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study is to find and analyze all types of speaking tasks found in the English textbook. "Teacher's book for elementary schools for 5th Grade". The data source is an English textbook titled "Teacher's Book for elementary schools for 5th Grade". The researchers only examined speaking tasks in semester 1 which consists of 5 chapters and all of them have speaking tasks. The total speaking task found was 10 speaking tasks. In this study, the researcher used document analysis. According to Simonova, there are seven types of speaking tasks, namely; Dialogue, Role plays, Information gap, Using a picture, Giving instruction, Problem-solving, and Re-telling story. Based on the analysis done by the researcher, there are three types of speaking tasks found in the English textbook entitled "Teacher's book for elementary schools for 5th Grade", namely; Role plays, Using pictures, and Giving instruction. Due to the lack of speaking tasks found in the "Teacher's Book for elementary schools for 5th Grade", it can be said that the types of speaking tasks in the "Teacher's Book for elementary schools for 5th Grade" are still not varied. Using Picture is a task that asks students to tell a picture to communication or describe.
