Abstract

Information now is an important element to every growing industry in the world. In order to keep up with other competitors, endless improvements in optimizing overall efficiency are needed. There still exist barriers that separate departments in PT XYZ and caused limitation to the information sharing in the system. Open-Source Manufacturing Execution System (MES) presents as an IT based application that offers wide variety of customization to eliminate stovepipes by sharing information between departments. Benchmarking is used to choose the best Open-Source MES Application, and Dynamic System Development Method (DSDM) is adopted as this work guideline. As a result, recommendations of the chosen Open-Source MES Application are represented.

Abstract

This paper explains the improvement of PT ZYX's productivity on the assembly line-A, using the production line balancing method. Four methods of line balancing were examined, namely, Ranking Positional Weight (RPW), Region Approach, J-Wagon and Kaizen. The selection of the most suitable method is made based on the reduction of number of workstation and cycle-time. Based on the result. Kaizen method shows better total cycle time, number of workstation, and number of operator required. This result is simulated using the 'Tecnomatix' software with the DES (Discrete Event Simulation) method.

Abstract

This project is conducted in Company X, a passenger cars wheel producing company located in Sunter, North Jakarta. With a view of increasing the productivity of the company, the focus of this project will be redesigned the layout of the factory. The main problem encountered is that the goods are not produced in single location, causing a considerable hindrance in terms of time and distance, and hence efficiency. The redesigning layout process will use SLP method and flow analysis while supported by analysis of assembly line balancing to optimize the layout. Regarding the evaluation process, ARENA software will be used to simulate and identify the bottleneck in the production process, and comparing the layout alternatives to decide the best layout. The best chosen layout according to the simulation and SLP method that supported with flow analysis and assembly line balancing will be used as the master draft layout that will be proposed to Company X.

Abstract

Nowadays academic institutions have to follow development of technology to give high accreditation in education. Development in Information technology is considered as one of the leading factor that affecting the changes in higher education academic institution, especially through E-Learning system. The main objective of this research is to design how to develop E-Learning system in teaching and learning process at Industrial Engineering Department of Swiss German University, by using Dynamic System Development Method (DSDM). The developed E-Learning that is being tested by developer and user to be analyzed and assessed is called Moodle. The result shows that the teaching and learning processes can be well improved by integrating the developed E-Learning system including its specific interfaces and platform. It also shows that the developed system is also well accepted by potential users, as indicated by the user acceptance test. The result of the research is analyzed by using the descriptive analysis to reveal the capability of the system. It shows that developed E-Learning system is capable to be implemented in Industrial Engineering Department, provided that the infrastructure is also prepared to support such system.
