The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between counterpressure giver to the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase at Private Midwifery Practice (BPM) Lismarini. This study was quantitative with pre-experimental research design, while the sampling techniques used purposive sampling. There were 10 respondents who were divided into 2 groups, namely counterpressure given by midwives as many as 5 respondents and 5 respondents given by the family. After giving counterpressure, the respondent would be measured the intensity of labor pain using the observation sheet and checklist. Data were analyzed by using univariate and bivariate analysis with chi square. The results of this study from those 10 respondents showed that 5 respondents (50%) who were given counterpressure by midwives experienced moderate pain. Meanwhile, from group give counter pressure by the family, there were 2 respondents (20%) experienced moderate pain and 3 respondents (30%) experienced severe pain. The results of the Chi Square statistical test obtained p value = 0.007 which meant < α (0.007 < 0.05). Therefore, there was a correlation between counterpressure giver and the intensity of labor pain on the first active phase at Private Midwifery Practice Lismarini Palembang.
