Abstract

Legume  Cover  Crop  establishment  is  vegetative  method for  erosion  control  in  the  slope  area.  Calopogonium mucunoides, Centrosema pubescens, and Pueraria javanica are the species  are uses as mixed  Legume Cover Crop for erosion control. The problem in cover crop planting on slope area is the seed easy wash away by the rain, so erosion control in the slope area can not be implemented properly. The Templok Method is a new method for planting Legume Cover Crop in the slope area. This method use TeraGlue as kohesif material, for straw or litter as planting media and cocofiber net. This research done at area with  ± 70° slope in Gunung Walat Forest Education, Sukabumi.           The result of this research indicate that Templok Method by using TeraGlue, straw and litter media also cocofiber net can give good effect of planting Legum Cover Crop in the slope area. Based on this first research, Templok Method can be use as alternative solution for planting Legum Cover Crop for erosion control in slope area.

Abstract

Growth of Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba  Roxb. Miq.) on PT ANTAM Unit Bisnis Pongkor’s Tailing with Top Soil and Compost AdditionGold  tailing has some characteristics such as low of organic material and microorganism activity, deficient in nutrition andlow of CEC (cation exchange capacity). This constraint to revegetation, therefor soil amandment needed before revegetation program. Top soil and compost addition, which can improve soil condition and nutrition, also as microbe source. It is necessary to select tree species for revegetation post mining activity. Pioneer species that chosen have to well adaptive, fast growing, known silviculture techniques, available in plant resource, microbial symbiosis and catalytic. One of the potential species is jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba Roxb. Miq.). The result of this research is growth respon of jabon on  tailing with  top soil and compost addition can improve growth of tall, stem diameter  and root biomass. The best dose combination are 20 grams compost combine with 250 grams top soil.

Abstract

Evaluation of Arbuscula Mycorrizhae Fungi (AMF) Application to Teak (Tectona grandis Linn. F.) Seedling and Its Growth Responses in NurseryTeak  (Tectona grandis Linn. F.) was one of Verbenaceae family that categorized into luxurious goods commodity. One of difficulties in meeting of teak woods demands was the growth of teak in the nursery that takes long enough time, thus need efforts to accelerate the growth and improve the quality of teak in the nursery. Arbuskula Mycorrizhae Fungi (AMF) was one of endomycorrizhae that could associate with teak. Mycorrizhae could provide phospor that has important role for (Adenosin Triphospate) ATP creation in the plant. The objective of this research was to collect and provide information from many performed research for evaluating and analyzing the effect of endomycorrizhae inoculation to teak seedling growth. Result of this evaluation about application AMF of teak seddling that  G. aggregatum dan  G.manihotis-3 could improve the growth of teak seddling. G. manihotis-3 was effective AMF that improve the growth of teak seedling. The addition of M-Dext on 10 cc/l and 30 cc/l doses, and 3 gr of NPK could support the improvement of teak seedling growth that inoculated with AMF. Used utilization of growing media from sterilized mixture of sand and soil could support the growth of teak seedling that inoculated with AMF in nursery. Inoculation technique with hole-system or layering system could used to application teak seedling with AMF in nursery.

Abstract

Comparison of Soil’s Chemical and Biological Characteristics Caused Land Openness of Pine Reforested Forest in Pollung Sub-district of Humbang Hasundutan District, North Sumatera.Forest clearing activity has been caused land openness in some forest areas such as reforested forest. Land openness could cause the decreasing of fertility value of forest soil. The objective of this research was to comparing of soil’s chemical and biological characteristics in open area with pine forest in pine reforested forest in Pollung sub-district of Humbang Hasundutan district, North Sumatera. This research was using secondary data of soil’s chemical and biological characteristics analysis results from Team of Living Environmental Ministry 2010. Descriptively, this research has shown that land openness has caused lower comparison of all average value of soil’s chemical and biological parameters. Highest percentage of comparison difference in open area was total of C-organic content that amounted 59.90% and total of soil fungi that amounted 94.18 % lower than pine forests. Degradation of soil’s chemical and biological values was caused by the decreasing of total organic content of soil and nutrient washing by rain water. Considering to negative impact that will be caused thus needed an effort of soil resiliency through land rehabilitation by whitewashing of acid soil and re-vegetation

Abstract

Planting medium that’s commonly used in the nursery ground is a top soil. Top soil that is utilized as a medium for planting is known have some weakness and may result in environment damage when used on an ongoing basis, thus the use of additional materials materials top soil that qualify as planting media needs to be done. One of the materials that can be used as a medium for planting is fern nor diacritical marks (Gleichenia linearis) leaf litter and pine (Pinus merkusii). These materials can be used as a medium for planting after compostion process  to remove content of cellulose and hemicellulose contained in such materials. Nutrient element content is inside planting medium   also be added to handouts fertilizers. Utilization bioorganic as media addition to jabon  seedlings are  known can reduce the use of plant top soil as a medium of 50% and produce seedling growth (5.8 cm high; diameter 0,5 mm) while same either by medium planted in top soil (6,5 cm high; diameter 0,5 mm) while seedling on bioorganic planting medium has on media cropping bioorganik having less good growth (high 4,3 centimeters; diameter 0,4 mm ) gord ratio C/N  still very high that the mineral content that  is not available in the media and cannot be used by plant. Provision of fertilizer Terabuster 1% Bioremedi 2%, also a mixture of Terabuster and Bioremedi, respectively, as many as 20 ml are known to be able to boost the growth of the  jabon seedling about 10-50% compared with non-fertilization, besides fertilizers were also able to increase the percent living seed planting  in jabon Bioorganic medium about 4-21%

Abstract

Reclamation and revegetation activities conducted by mining company to improve the function of land that has been affected by opening of the area is not easy. Evaluation of growth status is one of ways that can be used to overcome these obstacles. This study aimed to describe the status of growth of trees in the post-mining land and evaluate the causes of health problems on the growth of trees in the post-mining land. The method used in this study is using 4 pieces of plot objects made in two locations: in Harapan and in Inalahi. The parameters measured in identifying growth status are the plant’s diameter, plant’s height, growth performance, survival rate and soil samples. The species observed in this study is bitti (Vitex coffasus), johar (Senna siamea), kayu angin (Casuarina sp.), and sengon buto (Enterolobium macrocarpum). The results showed that johar has a value of 100% percent of individual growth, this means johar has a good life and adaptive at each observation plot. Percentage of the total of growing plants owned by sengon buto is 40% at the location of Harapan and johar is 30% in Inalahi location. Kayu angin at Harapan site and sengon buto at the location of Inalahi possess health value of 100%. It means that both plants resistant to health problems in their respective locations. Health problems occured is indicated by the presence of symptoms, such as, yellow leaves, black spots, and stagnation. The results of soil analysis on the observed plot indicates that low nutrient value in nitrogen (N), potassium (K), phosphorus (P) and calcium (Ca) to be one cause of the health problems in the plant.
