Abstract

Compliment respond is an interesting topic  to discuss  for researchers in many  parts of  the   world.   This   happened  because    different  areas   have   different  ways   of responding.   This   article   will   discuss    compliment  responds  using   Continuum Hypothesis which  was identified from 13 compliment responds of Diponegoro University postgraduate students.  Questionaires were  distributed to 13 students and then   the  researcher identified the  data quantitatively and  qualitatively. The results found   not only  13  responds  using  Continuum  Hypothesis  strategies for replying compliments  furthermore 10  responds  of situation  also  formed  new  compliment strategies such  as Joke, Suspicious, and Explanation followed by question strategies.

Abstract

Abstract. In this article, several reading theories need to be reviewed in their relationships to read understanding educators and English lecturers. Three other Reading Models, Bottom-Up, Top-Down, and Interactive, are discussed in the Schema Theory at the theoretical stage. The history of reading training, kinds and purposes of reading, and cognitive reading abilities will be discussed in checking the reading understanding. Finally, it reviews six variables that are engaged in understanding English texts.Keywords: comprehension, models of reading, schema theoryAbstrak. Dalam artikel ini, beberapa teori bacaan perlu ditinjau dalam hubungannya untuk membaca pemahaman para pendidik dan dosen bahasa Inggris. Tiga Model Membaca diantaranyamodel Bottom-Up, Top-Down, dan Interactive dibahas dalam Schema Theory pada tahap teoretis. Rentetan uji coba, jenis dan tujuan membaca, serta kemampuan membaca kognitif dibahas dalam memastikan pemahaman membaca. Akhirnya, terdapat review terhadap enam variabel yang terlibat dalam memahami teks bahasa Inggris.Kata kunci: membaca, model membaca, teori schema

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan video pembelajaran melalui Channel youtube dosen dan menguji kelayakan video baik menurut ahli maupun mahasiswa pengguna. Kegiatan penelitian ini menggunakan channel youtube sebagai media pembelajaran dengan sebelumnya peneliti merancang video materi mata kuliah Communication Skills. Subjek penelitian ini adalah subjek uji pakar dan subjek uji coba adalah 142 mahasiswa STITEK Bontang yang sedang dan akan mengambil mata kuliah Communication Skills. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan output berupa tiga video pembelajaran sebagai sarana pembelajaran visual alternatif melalui media youtube yaitu berupa video pembelajaran powerpoint, aktivitas mengajar, dan gabungan. Responden cenderung memilih video gabungan sebagai video yang paling banyak memberikan ketertarikan mahasiswa terhadap perkuliahan melalui Youtube.

Abstract

The aims of the analysis titled a Study on Students' troubles for acquiring vocabulary comprised to look for out characters and elements by educates' troubles in finding out vocabulary. The topic of this study was the scholars of the primary semester of STITEK Bontang who took English class. This study applied a qualitative enquiry intent, applying features of a case study. For acquiring the information, the man of scientific discipline put-upon interview and questionnaire. All the data comprised examined descriptively. The determinations displayed that the students still faced the effects or troubles in vocabulary learning. Diverseness’s from troubles faced of students incoming vocabulary acquiring followed several. Kinds of troubles faced along the students were (1) most of the students have difficulties in saying the words, (2) a way to write and spell, (3) the various grammatical type of a word called inflections was one in all gets of learners troubles in determining vocabulary. In increase, (4) the students found difficulties in selecting the suitable that means of the words and (5) additionally still confuse in victimization the word supported the context. The last, (6) the students were also still confuse once they found discussions or aspect that comprised idiomatical. At that place bear made up some factors in that made students' troubles in acquiring vocabulary (1) the written kind is completely different from the spoken form in English, (2) The number of words that students got to learn is passing large, (3) the restrictions of sources of data regarding words, (4) The complexness of word cognition. Deliberate a words regards kind of more than acknowledging its wordbook definition, (5) lack of inferring of grammatical of the words, (6) the erroneous pronunciation is commonly caused by the dearth of sound law of similarity between English language and also the students' indigent language.
