Abstract

Wire and Tube heat exchanger consists of coiled tube and wire sticked on the two sides of it in normal direction of the tube. The ability of this heat exchanger to dissipate heat is shown by the overall surface effi ciency from array of fi ns or called as heat exchanger effi ciency. The wire which functions as a fi n is the expansion of the outer surface of tube, so that it expands the surface of free convection heat transfer and transfers heat from the heat exchanger to the outside surroundings. The fi n effi ciency commonly depends on its material, geometry and environment where it is used. In this research, the infl uence of the wire pitch to the heat exchanger was examinated. Tthree designs of the heat exchanger with different wire pitch namely (pw/Lw = 0.015; pw/Lw = 0.029 dan pw/Lw = 0.044) were tested into fi ve levels of entrance fl uids temperature (40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 0 C). The fi nding of this study was that the heat exchanger pw/Lw = 0.029 evenly produced the highest effi ciency.

Abstract

An automatic temperature control tire patch are designed to make it easier to patch the tires, shorten the time and improve the quality of the tires. Tire fatch with automatic temperature controller are equipped with thermocouple and thermocontrol displays. Thermocouple is used as a temperature sensor and thermocontrol display as a medium that can be used to adjust and determine the tire temperature. This experimental study aims to determine the performance of tire patch tool in producing good quality patches with a relatively short time. Equipment and instruments used in this research are display thermocontrol, thermocouple, voltmeter, and amperemeter. The data obtained are then analyzed descriptively. The best patch results in this study were found at 70oC in the "perfect" category. The T1 temperature is 134oC, T2 is 70oC and T3 is 65,9oC, while the heat transfer rate at Qplate is 36,500 watts and Qban is 0,0691875 watts with the time of filling for 1 minute 47 seconds (107 seconds).

Abstract

This study aims to develop modules as a learning media to facilitate the students in their learning of heat transfer. The study also tries to obtain an overview of the developed modules' feasibility. This is development research which aim is to produce a learning module. This module was tested in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Surabaya State University. Fifteen students were randomly selected as respondents. The stages carried out in the development of this module comprise of the following phases: defining, designing, and development. Analysis of the data obtained from students' learning outcome after attending the study using the "Radiator Trainer Heat Transfer Module" shows an increased performance. The post-test proofed that there is an increase in students' marks compared to the pre-test outcome. The average of the increment is 93% of all students. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran berupa modul yang berguna untuk mempermudah mahasiswa dalam mempelajari ilmu perpindahan panas. Selain itu, kajian ini memperoleh gambaran tentang kelayakan modul yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah modul pembelajaran. Uji coba modul ini dilakukan di Jurusan Teknik Mesin, Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Responden penelitian sejumlah 15 mahasiswa yang dipilih secara acak. Tahap-tahap yang dilakukan dalam pengembangan modul ini meliputi tahap pendefinisian, tahap perancangan dan tahap pengembangan. Berdasarkan analisis data yang diperoleh hasil belajar mahasiswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran dengan menggunakan "Modul Perpindahan Panas Radiator Trainer" menjadi lebih meningkat, terbukti dari hasil perbandingan pre-test dan post-test terjadi peningkatan dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 93% dari seluruh mahasiswa.
