Abstract

Microplastics are plastic fragments with size less than 5mm in length, according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Microplastics occur and spread in the environment as a result of plastic pollution. Although further assessment is needed to find the health impact of microplastic exposure to humans, several studies show that microplastic might harm the ocean and aquatic life. Code river is one of the big rivers in Yogyakarta. According to the Regional Environmental Agency of Yogyakarta, Code river was highly polluted by domestic waste and wastewater from the settlement along the river and its tributaries. Therefore, the objectives of this research are to investigate the abundance and characteristic of microplastics in fish from Code River Yogyakarta. Fish samples were collected from the fisherman in the upstream, middle, and downstream areas of Code River from February to May 2019. In the laboratory, the samples were analyzed using Wet Peroxide Oxidation (WPO) method. Fish gills and intestine were oxidized using WPO method followed by density separation for 24 hours. Nikon SMZ445 Stereoscopic Microscope with 35x magnification was used to analyze the shape, color, and total of microplastics. The highest abundance was found in fish samples collected from the upstream area (4.33 particles/gram) compare with the downstream area (3.25 particles/gram). The dominant color is blue, while the dominant type of microplastics is fiber.

Abstract

Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta merupakan daerah dengan pertumbuhan penduduk yang tinggi. Hal ini mempengaruhi tingginya jumlah limbah domestik yang dihasilkan. IPAL Komunal dapat menjadi salah satu solusi dalam pengolahan air limbah domestik. Data dari DLH DIY 2016 tercatat 376 IPAL komunal di seluruh DIY, tetapi hanya 41 IPAL yang dipantau, sisanya tidak mengetahui nilai effluent yang dihasilkan. Tingginya biaya pengujian parameter juga menjadi alasan. Diperlukan suatu alternatif pemantauan yang mudah, murah, sederhana, portabel, dan hasil langsung dapat dibaca sehingga dapat dilakukan secara mandiri. Clearity meter merupakan suatu alat ukur sederhana yang digabungkan dengan kurva kalibrasi untuk mengetahui hubungan antar parameter dengan metode analisis regresi linier berganda. Penelitian dilakukan di IPAL komunal Palgading dan Tirto Asri dengan parameter uji TSS, TDS, COD, dan BOD dengan metode pada SNI 6989. Tabung dengan dimeter besar mempunyai hasil yang lebih baik dimana nilai R2 dan signifikansinya mendekati ketetapan meskipun belum sesuai. Perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut agar memperlihatkan korelasi antar parameter dan kestabilan alat.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk menguji perbedaan hasil belajar antara mahasiswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran Kalkulus menggunakan media Kahoot! dengan yang tidak menggunakan Kahoot! serta tingkat kesesuaian dari penggunaan media pembelajaran Kahoot!. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa baru Prodi Teknik Lingkungan Tahun Angkatan 2019/2020 sebanyak 82 orang dan Angkatan 2018/2019 sebanyak 40 orang. Digunakan t-test dan Wilcoxon test untuk menguji perbedaan signifikansi rata-rata dari dua grup yang saling bebas. Tingkat kesesuaian dianalisis menggunakan Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) yang menggambarkan antara kinerja dengan harapan. Sebagai bahan evaluasi diberikan feedback yang dianalisis menggunakan text mining dengan sentiment analysis yang divisualisasikan menggunakan word cloud berbantuan Program R. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan tidak terlalu berbeda rata-rata hasil belajar dari kedua kelompok. Namun, jika menggunakan media Kahoot!, suasana pembelajaran lebih menyenangkan dan tidak tegang, serta tercipta komunikasi dua arah dari pendidik kepada mahasiswa atau antar mahasiswa. Tingkat kesesuaian antara kinerja dan harapan adalah baik dengan nilai rata-rata 95.05%. Selain itu, mahasiswa memberikan respon positif terhadap penggunaan media Kahoot! pada perkuliahan Kalkulus dengan berbagai kelebihan dan kekurangannya.Initiate Kahoot! as a variation of calculus learning for environmental engineering studentsAbstractThis study aimed to examined differences in learning outcomes between students who take Calculus courses using Kahoot! and those who didn’t use Kahoot! as well as the level of suitability of using Kahoot! learning media. This study was quantitative research. The subjects were 82 new students in 2019/2020 and 40 students in 2018/2019 from the Environmental Engineering Study Program, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Indonesia. We used the t-test and the Wilcoxon test to examine mean differences in the two independent groups. The level of suitability uses Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), which describes performance and expectations. As an evaluation material, the feedback was given, analyzed using text mining with sentiment analysis, which was visualized using word cloud assisted by the R program. The results showed that overall the learning outcomes of the two groups were not significantly different. However, if Kahoot! media was used, the learning atmosphere was more fun and less tense, and created two-way communication from educators to students or between students. The level of suitability between performance and expectations was good, with an average value of 95.05%. Also, students gave a positive response to the use of Kahoot! in Calculus courses with its various advantages and disadvantages.

Abstract

The impact of advanced technology is perceived in every sector, including education. As the Ministry of Education and Culture program, distance learning has become applied in Indonesia, especially with this pandemic COVID-19. The learning model used in the course will affect student understanding in this situation, especially for an experimental study that aims to enhance student skills in the laboratory. The virtual laboratory practice is an additional learning model used in Environmental Chemistry Laboratory Course. Before, the Environmental Laboratory Course used only video to deliver learning materials. This research is experimental research that aims to evaluate the additional virtual laboratory practice's impact on student grades compared to the previous method. The research result was obtained by comparing the practical course's assessment results in 2019/2020 to 2020/2021. A questionnaire was also used to collect student opinions about the new learning method. The number of samples in this research was 395 students. The results show that the average students' grades using explanatory video only is 89, then with additional virtual laboratory practice are 88. From the questionnaire, 46% of the respondent said the application increased their understanding of the learning materials, and they also enjoyed using the application. It could be concluded that the virtual laboratory practice did not improve the assessment result of the course but enhanced the student interest. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil pengimplementasian metode penggunaan software R untuk menunjang kemampuan pemograman mahasiswa. Studi kasus dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa angkatan baru Tahun Ajaran 2019/2020 di program studi Teknik Lingkungan Fakultas Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan (FTSP). Dasar dari pelaksanaan pemrograman R adalah memperkenalkan mahasiswa dalam permograman sebagai bekal untuk mata kuliah di semester berikutnya dan bisa menyelesaikan persoalan berkaitan dengan Kalkulus dengan komputasi matematis. Variabel bebas yang digunakan dalam hal ini adalah nilai rata-rata ujian dan kepuasan responden. Berdasarkan pelaksanaan, diperoleh rata-rata nilai sampel lebih dari batas minimum dan berdasarkan Indeks Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA), semua kategori terisis dari prioritas utama hingga prioritas berlebih. Sementara dari hasil kuesioner, sebagian besar responden sangat puas dengan adanya pemrograman di mata kuliah tersebut. Kendarti demikian, perlu dilakukan evaluasi yakni adanya tutor dalam pelaksanaan diperkuliahan dan identifikasi kekurangan sarana dan prasarana pada setiap mahasiswa.
