Abstract

This study analyse the causality relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth in Indonesia over the period 1970-2015. The method used in this research is Granger causality approach. Results from the estimation show that there is no causal relationship between FDI and economic growth in short and long run. However, the results in this paper indicate that there is a unidirectional causal relationship running from economic growth to FDI in short and long run. It means that economic growth influences FDI inflows in Indonesia.

Abstract

People nowadays still consider banks as more reliable sources of capital and media for house ownership loan (KPR) distribution than non-bank financial institutions. The amount of the distributed housing loan increases in every year. The positive trend occurs because there are more people who need housings. The objective of this study is to identify the effects of the regulation of Bank Indonesia that is run through the LTV policies to control KPR and the effect of property prices, inflation, loan interest rate, and economic growth on KPR distribution. This quantitative research uses the Error Correction Model (ECM) – two-step Engle Granger method in EViews 9 in analyzing the data of 2012-2021 period. This research finds that, in the short run, only does economic growth positively and significantly influence the KPR distribution. Then, in the long run, property prices, loan interest rate, and economic growth significantly affect the KPR distribution.

Abstract

Profitability is the bank's ability to gain profits which can show good bank performance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of capital adequacy, credit risk and liquidity risk on BPR profitability with a sample of 47 BPRs for the 2017-2021 period. The analysis technique in this study used multiple linear regression analysis techniques. Based on the test results that have been carried out, capital adequacy (X1) and credit risk (X2) have a negative effect on BPR profitability and liquidity risk (X2) has a positive effect on BPR profitability in the Province of Bali. The implication of this research is that BPR’s determine the appropriate lending ceiling based on capital considerations that can later have an impact on BPR profitability.

Abstract

The impact of the spread of the Covid-19 virus has affected the Indonesian banking sector, one of which is increasing credit risk. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of Income Diversification (DIV), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), BOPO and Bank Size (SIZE) on Credit Risk (NPL) during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method of data analysis in this study uses the panel data regression method. The subjects in this study are banks that are included in the KBMI 4 category. The research data is sourced from the quarterly published reports of each bank from 2020:1 to 2022:3. The results of this study indicate that all independent variables can explain the dependent variable by 75.86% while the rest are influenced by other variables. Partially, income diversification has a negative effect on NPL. Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), and BOPO have a positive effect on NPL. Meanwhile bank size (SIZE) has no effect on NPL.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to assess the impact of macroeconomic factors, including the inflation rate and Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and performance indicators such as Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), on the valuation of manufacturing companies during the period from 2018 to 2022. This study employs purposive sampling to select ten companies as samples, with specific criteria applied throughout the five-year observation period. Data is collected through non-participant observation, involving the analysis of financial reports from the chosen companies. Data analysis iscarried out using multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The research findings reveal the significant positive influence of Return on Equity (ROE) on company value, whereas other variables do not exhibit significant impacts. This underscores the critical role of Return on Equity (ROE) as a key factor affecting company valuation.

The results of the conducted tests indicate that non-performing financing (NPF) has a negative but insignificant impact on profitability, while operating expenses (BOPO) have a significant negative impact on profitability. Financing-to-deposit ratio (FDR) has a significant positive impact on profitability, while capital adequacy ratio (CAR) has a positive but insignificant impact on profitability. Moreover, Covid-19 has a significant positive impact on the profitability of Islamic BPRs in East Java.

Abstract

This Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam is a province with the highest percentage of Muslim population in Indonesia. This is accompanied by the special privilege given to Aceh to implement local regulations in the form of Qanun LKS, which regulates financial institutions based on Islamic Sharia principles. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that determine the profitability level of Sharia-based Rural Banks (BPR Syariah) in Aceh province, as well as the effect of Qanun LKS regulations. The data used in this study is panel data with a period from 2012 to 2021. The estimation method used is pooled OLS with a random effects model. The results of this study indicate that the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Financing to Deposite Ratio (FDR) have a positive influence on profitability, as represented by Return on Assets (ROA), of Sharia-based Rural Banks in Aceh province. On the other hand, Operating Expenses and Operating Income (BOPO) have a negative impact on profitability. However, the Non Performing Finance (NPF) variable and the Qanun LKS dummy variable are not significant in influencing the profitability of Sharia-based Rural Banks in Aceh province.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of economic growth on the profitability of Islamic Rural Banks (BPR Syariah) in East Indonesia, as well as how the profitability of BPR Syariah in East Indonesia is influenced by internal banking variables. This study uses a quantitative method conducted on BPR Syariah in the East Indonesia region, including Sulawesi, Maluku, NTT, NTB, and Papua. A total of 10 BPRs are the subjects of this research. Data collection is carried out using purposive sampling method, using data registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) from 2012 to 2022. The data processing technique in this study uses panel data analysis with the assistance of STATA 15. The variables used in this study are divided into two categories, namely dependent and independent variables. The dependent variable used is bank profitability, proxied by Return on Assets (ROA). Meanwhile, the independent variables used include Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), and Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO). The results obtained in this study indicate that economic growth, represented by the PDRB value, has a significant negative impact on bank profitability. Meanwhile, other internal banking variables have varying effects on bank profitability.
