Abstract

Asthma is a serious global health problem and can affect all age groups, including children. Asthma symptoms in children can be controlled with complete management, not only by administering pharmacological therapy but also using non-pharmacological therapy. Non-pharmacological therapy can help control asthma attacks, namely through breathing exercises. Breathing exercises can be pursed lip breathing through balloon blowing therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the pursed lip breathing technique by blowing a balloon on the oxygenation status of children with asthma. The research design was pre_posttest group design. Oxygenation status in the form of respiratory rate, pulse, oxygen saturation measured before and after pursed lip breathing therapy. Pursed Lip Breathing is carried out for 15 minutes with 4 breaths of inspiration and 7 times of expiration, pausing between cycles of 2 seconds. The research sample consisted of 25 children taken by purposive sampling. The research sites are in the villages of Maur Baru and Maur Lama, Muara Rupit District, Musi Rawas Utara District. The analysis used the Wilcoxon test on respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation. The dependent statistical t-test was used on the pulse frequency variable. There was a significant difference in oxygenation status before and after pursed lip breathing by blowing a balloon. Pursed lip breathing has proven to be effective as a non-pharmacological therapy that can be applied routinely to improve oxygenation status in children with asthma, so as to optimize lung mechanical function.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the chronic nutritional problems that is still a major challenge in Indonesia, especially for toddlers. The main factor causing stunting is inadequate nutritional intake in the long term, especially in the first 1000 days of life. Efforts to overcome stunting require a holistic approach and are based on local wisdom, through the implementation of local-based food classes. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the Pegayut village community in utilizing nutritious, easily accessible, and culturally appropriate local food as an effort to deal with stunting. The implementation method involves nutrition education, demonstrations of local food processing. The results of this activity show an increase in participants' understanding of stunting prevention through local food classes and active participation during cooking classes. Local-based food classes are a sustainable nutrition strategy that is adaptive and worthy of being replicated according to local wisdom

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the level of erosion in various planting patterns of agroforestry systems implemented by the community in Lupia Village, Kabangka District, Muna Regency. The background of this research is based on the issue of land degradation due to population pressure on forest areas, which prompts the need for alternative approaches such as agroforestry. The research was conducted from June to July 2012 using field study and laboratory analysis methods. The collected data includes information on rainfall, slope, soil texture and structure, as well as the types of planting patterns used. The calculation of erosion rates was done using the USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) method. The research results show that the agroforestry planting pattern consisting of a combination of Teak-Banana-Papaya (with an 8% slope) produced the lowest erosion rate of 17.40 tons/ha/year, while the combination of Teak-Long Beans-Cocoa (with a 12% slope) showed the highest erosion rate of 34.31 tons/ha/year. All observed planting patterns resulted in erosion levels exceeding the tolerance threshold, thus not reflecting a sustainable system. Therefore, it is necessary to apply soil conservation techniques to support the sustainability of the agroforestry system in the area.
