Abstract

Durian peel (Durio zibethinus Murr) is a plant that can be used as a treatment. Durian skin contains secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids which have antibacterial activity. The bacteria that cause acne are Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus. The extract was obtained by maceration using 70% ethanol solvent. The ethanol extract of durian peel obtained was made in 3 series of concentrations of 10%, 15% and 25% then tested on propionibacterium acnes and staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The MIC value of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria obtained was 10% with an area of ??inhibition zone formed of 7.5 mm ± 0.4 mm. 15% with an area of ??inhibition zone formed of 7.7 mm ± 0.3 mm. 25% with an area of ??inhibition zone formed of 8.4 mm ± 0.2 mm while the MIC value of the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria obtained was 10% with an area of ??inhibition zone formed of 8.11 mm ± 0.4 mm. 15% with an area of ??inhibition zone formed of 8.11 mm ± 0.3 mm. 25% with an area of ??inhibition zone formed of 8.8 mm ± 0.5 mm. based on the results of ethanol extract durian skin has activity against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus. Abstract

Cocor bebek leaves contain fl avanoids which have anti-infl ammatory power by inhibitingprostaglandin synthesis by blocking the work of cyclooxygenase and inhibiting leukotriene by blockinglipookigenase. Infl ammation is a local protective response caused by damage to tissue caused by physicaltrauma, damaging chemicals, or microbiological substances. This study aims to determine the eff ect ofcocor bebek leaf extract as an anti-infl ammatory in leg edema of white mice (Rattus novergicus) with2% carrageenan induction. In this test using the in vivo activity test method for white rats (Rattusnovergicus) which has been induced by carrageenan. The volume of the rat’s feet is measured usinga pletismometer. Rats were divided into fi ve groups, the fi rst group as negative control were givendiclofenac sodium gel, groups two, three, four were given ethanol extract of leaves of cocor bebek 200,400 and 600 mg respectively, group fi ve as negative controls then calculated volume of feet. The resultsobtained, extract of 400 mg better anti-infl ammatory eff ects.

Abstract

Acne is a skin disease that teenagers often complain about at this time. The bacteria that are one of the causes of acne are Propionibacterium acne, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Durian skin (Durio zibethinus Murr) is used as a treatment. Durian contains secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids which have antibacterial activity. Extracts obtained by maceration using 70% ethanol. The phytochemical test shows that durian contains flavonoids as anti-bacterial compounds so that durian skin can be used as an alternative active ingredient in making anti-acne gel preparations. The ethanol extract of durian was then tested for activity by making 3 series concentrations of 10%, 15%, 25% which were then tested on Propionibacterium acne and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The results showed that with a concentration of 10%, 15%, 25% with Propionibacterium acne test bacteria had a inhibition zone with a diameter of 7.5 mm ± 0.4 mm (10%), 7.7 mm ± 0.3 mm (15%), 8.4 mm ± 0.2 mm (25 %) and using Stphylococcus aureus test bacteria has a inhibitory zone with a diameter of 8.11 mm ± 0.4 mm (10%), 8.11 mm ± 0.3 mm (15%), 8.8 mm ± 0.5mm(25%).
