Media has developed not only to represent knowledge, idea and point of view which then it develops a solid structure as well as in the stable society where there is no conflict of interest. The recent media has build a social reality from an industry that is presented to a community which is dynamic, contemporer and constantly changing. The sibbholeth of "Bhineka Tunggal lka· today is no longer about the ethnic and the cultural diversity but it is about the cultural diversity that exists in Indonesian society. The main reference for the establishment of Indonesia's multicultural society is multiculturalism, an ideology that recognizes and exalts the difference in the equality of both individually and culturally. The presence of media - in line with the multiculturalism spirit - should be the adhesive of some separate identities (importances). It has to be admitted that the national integration, which is constructed by the media (especially by television) has created the interest uniformity that no longer relevant with the spirit of global democracy and multiculturalirm. The condition occured because the Broadcasting Act (UU Penyiaran No. 3212002) that control the presence of the television industry in Indonesia is not functioning properly and it is violated by the Indonesian television worker. The Broadcasting Act is not functioning properly because the authority holder of the broadcasting act in Indonesia is in weak position.

ABSTRACT The infotainment show becomes one of reliable shows for several national private TV in Indonesia. The following article is discussing about the presence of the show program that dominated the duration of TV stations in Indonesia. It is used as an effective media by the society members (TV viewers) to conduct cultural escapism. Infotainment show is becoming one of the gossip industries in Indonesia that is used as a medicine for society members to escape from the daily reality. Abstrak This article discusses about the cultural resistance which starts from the character that forms a set of norms which refers to the character and ideal behavior of its community supporters. Javanese People and Japanese people have developed the concept of character from generation to generation through the orientation of every action, as well as becoming values which inherent with the background of each cultures. In line with the recent global era, reinterpretation of Javanese culture and Japanese culture becomes one of strategJies to develop each cultural resistance. Javanese people respond the global mainstream as moral threat as local wisdom, meanwhile Japanese people respond the global era as a form to establish the nationality spirit. The influence of globalization for Javanese people has created expressions of violence, hedonic, and the loss of family atmosphere. For Japanese people, globalization is precisely becoming the starting point of the cultural diplomacy. Key words: character, reinterpretation, globalization, Javanese culture, Japanese culture
