Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of elasticity of sectoral employment absorption labor in East Java Province. The data used is secondary data obtained from the office of National Statistics Institutionand other related institution. This type of research is correlational and regression which aims to find out whether there is a relationship between variables where the variables used in this study are Economic Growth (GDP), and Wage Rateon Labor Absorption in East Java Province. The method used in this study is panel data with the Common Effect approach and is associated with descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study show that the level of elasticity of sectoral employment in East Java Province is mostly in the inelastic positive and inelastic negative category, meaning that every increase in value of 1 in economic growth and wage ratewill cause an increase in the velueof laborabsorbed by less than 1 (inelastic positive), on the contrary if there is an increase in value of 1 in economic growth and wage ratewill cause a decrease in the number of laborabsorbed by less than 1 (negative inelastic). only in the agricultural sector is positive elastic, meaning that every increase in value of 1 in economic growth and wage rate will cause an increase in the number of laborabsorbed by more than 1.

Abstract

Economic development of a country aims to increase social welfare by expanding employment opportunities and direct distribution of income evenly. Uneven economic development would be problematic one of them is unemployment. Unemployment is a complex problem that can lead to social phenomena in society as someone who did not work so it does not earn. It is therefore necessary to find a solution to overcome the problem of unemployment. This study aims to determine the effect of the minimum wage, the labor force and economic growth on unemployment in Central Java province in 2009-2014. The analytical method used in this research is panel data regression with fixed effect model approach (FEM). Based on the analysis, it is known that variable minimum wage a significant negative effect on the variable open unemployment in Central Java, a variable workforce positive and significant effect on the variable open unemployment in Central and variable economic growth does not significantly influence the variables of unemployment in Central Java. Abstract

The main problem of this research was about the value of production in the handicraft industry in the village Tutul subdistrict Balung district Jember. This research was aimed to describe the factors that influence the value of production in the handicraft industry in the village Tutul subdistrict Balung district Jember. This research belongs to explanatory survey. This type of data are primary data, including data on the number of labor wages, capital, and production value. The method of this Research is ordinary least square (OLS). The result of this data shows that capital and amount and manpower have affected value of production, but wage haven’t affected value of production in the handicraft industry in the village tutul subdistrict Balung district jember. The research showed the implication that the use of capital by entrepreneurs handicraft is not maximized and need a support from the government, the capital should also get support from the local government to provide facilities to Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR). Handicraft industry in the village Tutul also still using traditional machines and therefore entrepreneurs need to boost employment and improve the quality of their performance. Abstract

Jember Regency is the best tobacco producing region in the world and absorbs female workers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the variables of income, age, education and the number of dependents on the interest of female workers working at PTPN X Industrial Unit Bobbin. The analytical method used is Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and the model used by Binary Logistic Regression using primary data which includes data on labor decisions, income, age, education and number of dependents. Samples taken were 100 respondents. Sampling was calculated using the proportional stratified random sampling formula. The results showed that income, age, education had a negative and significant effect, while the number of dependents did not affect the interest of female workers working at PTPN X Bobbin Industrial Unit.
