Abstract

The study of soil carried out from oil palm plantation soils at Garuda sakti street, Tapung, Kampar, Riau has been implemented since November 2019 to March 2020. This study aims to determine magnetic susceptibility, mass susceptibility, magnetic degree and to identify soil compositions and the content of heavy metals in the soils and to analyse the influence of content of heavy metals to the magnetic susceptibility. The samples were taken about one hundred points, then the samples were dried, cleaned, mashed and sifted. Magnetic susceptibility was measured using the Probe Magnetic Pasco PS-2162. Magnetic particles were separated from samples using the NdFeB magnet and identification of soil composition and the content of heavy metals were carried out using the XRF. The result shows that the value of magnetic susceptibility, mass susceptibility, magnetic degree are fluctuated and the compositon of the soils are Mg, Al, Si, P, K, Fe, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Ni, Zn  S, Cl, Co, Cu, Ga, Ge, As, Br, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Ag, Eu, Re and Pb and proved that soil has been contaminated by heavy metals such as V, Cr, Al, Fe, Ti and Sr from the soils until increase the Magnetic susceptibility of that soils.

Abstract

Research on mapping the value of magnetic susceptibility and determination of metal content in peat water in Tuah Madani Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru has been carried out. Samples were taken with each distance 50 meters to the north and east at 64 different points of 150 ml. The results of the calculation of susceptibility with the Quincke method obtained the lowest susceptibility value of 1.551 × 10-5 and the largest of 1.760 × 10-5. AAS test results and susceptibility calculations indicate that the peat water under study is paramagnetic. Mapping of magnetic susceptibility was carried out using the surfer 11 application while determining the metal content using AAS. The sample density was measured to produce values at intervals of 989,000 kg/m3 to 998,000 kg/m3. AAS test results were carried out on five samples chosen based on the value of magnetic susceptibility with the measured parameters namely Mn, Zn, Cr and Mg. Based on the standard threshold value of heavy metals as pollutants, it is known that the content of Mn, Zn, Cr and Mg. Mg in this peat water sample is still categorized as safe because it has not exceeded the standard threshold so it is suitable to be in the environment and not pollute the environment. Testing the parameters most contained in the sample are Mg.

Abstract

Receipt of radiation doses in patients by CT scan media really contributed to the radio diagnostic field. So far, volume Computed Tomography Dose Index (CTDIvol) and Dose Length Product (DLP) are the dose parameters used as a prescription of the dose to the patients from the examination process on the CT scan. However, these parameters have the disadvantage that they only describe the dose output from the device without regard to patient size. Size Specific Dose Estimate (SSDE) is a dose correction based on patient size and an effective dose is the dose value that arises due to differences in biological sensitivity values. Calculation of SSDE values and total effective doses were carried out in this study from data of patients who had undergone an abdominal CT scan examination. Patient radiation dose data were obtained from documents collected from the Radiology Department at the Prima Pekanbaru hospital. The data was obtained from examination results of Toshiba Asterion Multi (CTB 400 tube) CT scan of the abdomen of 20 patients. The data analysis shows that the average value of SSDE for male and female patients are 19.64 mGy and 17.4 mGy and the average total effective dose for male and female patients are 12.63 mSv and 9.16 mSv. These data indicate that the level of radiation dose received by patients is below the threshold that has been evaluated based on BAPETEN provisions.

Abstract

Research on the Analysis of Magnetic Properties and Content Identification of kampar River Sand Riau Province has been carried out. Sand samples taken in the Kampar River were then taken to  University of Riau instrumentation and magnetization laboratory to dry first, after which magnetic mineral separation was carried out using an Iron Sand Separator (ISS) . The next sample was measured its magnetic induction value using 2500 winding solenoids with currents (200, 400, 600, 800, 1000) mA with a fixed distance of 1 mm. The results showed that the magnetic susceptibility value for sand samples at point C was the highest value followed by the location of point B and point A with successive values of 13,767.96 x , 8,508.48 x  , and 8.008.10 x , and this value is included in the anti-ferromagnetic ilminite (FeTiO3) interval with a range of values (220-380000) x ,  . The results of the mass susceptibility value for the concentrate show that sand at the location of point C is the highest value followed by locations of points B and A with values of 13,969.70 x . 9,482.71 x .  and 6,441.25 x ., and this value is included in the inter ferromagnetic FeTiO3 ilminite interval with a range of values (46-8000 ) x .. X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) test results for the Fe element have increased after ISS. Sand which is at point B has a greater percentage, followed by the locations of points A and C with values respectively 17.265%, 11.386% and 10.952%.

Abstract

The magnetic susceptibility, composition and particle size of natural sand has been carried out in Rokan River, Riau Province regency have been determined. Iron sand samples were processed using an iron sand separator (ISS). The magnetic and non-magnetic particles of ISS products were separated using neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) magnet. The product of ball milling (BM) with tube rotational speed functions of 100 rpm, 150 rpm, 200 rpm was milled for 80 hours with BM size of 2 cm. The magnetic susceptibility were determined based on magnetic induction of a selenoid measured using Probe Magnetic Pasco PS-2162. The composition of Rokan river natural sand was measured using x-ray fluorescence. The magnetic particles are determined using scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the magnetic susceptibility increases with increasing BM tube rotational speed 28,138.79 × 10-5 (100 rpm), 29,374.88 × 10-5 (150 rpm), and 30,955.32 × 10-5 (200 rpm). The composition of Fe in the sample has increased from 32.686% to 35,865%, while for Si has decreased from 38.604% to 33.729%. The particle size of natural sand for 80 hours milling displays the particle sizes from  883.4 for 100 rpm to 655.81 for the smallest particle size of the samples synthesized with 200 rpm.

Abstract

Magnetic susceptibility and composition of magnetic particles from the natural sand iron oxide, at Rokan River in Riau Province as a function of the rotating speed of ball milling tubes. Samples are separated the magnetic particles from non-magnetic particles using iron sand separator (ISS), called the ISS product. Refinement using neodymium iron boron magnet (NdFeB). The ball milling process is carried out for 80 hours using combined iron balls with diameter of 0.7 cm (48 balls), 1.5 cm (24 balls), and 2 cm (16 balls) with variety milling tube rotational speeds of 100, 150, and 200 rpm. The calculation of the magnetic susceptibility value is carried out based on the values of B0 and BT, while the composition of the sample by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and the magnetic particle size of the sample is classified by scanning electron microscope. The result of the study indicates that the magnetic susceptibility of the ISS product has a value 2,895.99 × 10-5, while the value of the magnetic susceptibility of ball milling product increases with the increase in the rotating speed of the tube, namely 27,997.52 × 10-5, 29,975.27 × 10-5, and 30,690.44 × 10-5. XRF results show that the magnetic element Fe increased from 32.069% to 39.645%, while the non-magnetic element Si decreased from 31.127% to 29.187%. The average particle size obtained was smaller as the rotational speed of the milling tube increased, namely 679.72 nm, 619.14 nm, and 568.94 nm.
