Abstract

Availability of nutrients in the soil are the main factors that determine the growth and crop production. This research aims to know the response of compost enriched eggshells and zeolite on soil inceptisol of some aspects inceptisol soil properties and soybean growth. The research was conducted in UPT Palawija Tanjung Selamat land and Soil Biology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. This research using a randomized block design factorial. The first factor is compost enriched eggshell consists of without compost, 10 tons / ha compost, 20 tons / ha compost, 30 tons / ha compost and The second factor is  zeolite consists of without zeolite, 3 tons / ha zeolite, 3 tons / ha zeolite enriched green manure. The results showed that the compost enriched eggshell can increase soil pH, soil Ca exchange and soil organic in a linear, zeolite application can increase plant nitrogen absorption, interaction between compost enriched eggshell with zeolite can increase soil Ca exchange. Abstract

The aim of the research was to examine the effect of fertilizer and chicken manure on N uptake and growth of maize crop (Zea mays L.) on Inceptisol Kwala Bekala. This research was contacted at Rumah Kasa, Laboratory of Chemistry and Soil Fertility, PT. Nusa Pusaka Kencana Analytical Laboratory & QC (Asian Agri Group) and Research Center of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. This research used factorial randomized block design consisting of 2 factors with 3 replications of factor I: urea fertilizer (U) with 4 dosage levels: U0= 0 g / polybag, U1 = 1g / polybag, U2 = 1.5g / Polybag, U2 = 2g / polybag and factor II: chicken manure (A) with 4 dosage levels ie: A0 = 0 g / polybag, A1 = 50 g / polybag, A2 = 100 g / polybag, A3 = 150 g / Polybag. The results show that the application of highly significant fertilizer improves N uptake. The provision of chicken manure was highly significant to the increase of soil N uptake and plant height. The best treatment on urea fertilizer U1 = 1g / polybag and chicken chicken fertilizer A3 = 150 g / polybagKeywords:  chicken manure, Inceptisol N uptake, Urea

Abstract

Distribution of Clay Mineral in Tambunan A Field Experimental of University of Sumatera Utara at Salapian Sub-district of Langkat Regency. This research was conducted in Tambunan A Field Experimental of University of Sumatera Utara at Salapian Sub-district, Langkat Regency. Laboratory analysis was conducted at PT. Socfindo Medan and Educational Laboratory of Industrial Chemical Technology Medan. The study was conducted from March 2017 until October 2017. The analysis of clay minerals using Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) tools on 5 soil profiles determined by slopes. The result showed that the profile I had 4 horizon layers of Ap1, Ap2, Ap3, and Bw horizon, Profile II had 6 horizon layers Ap1, Ap2, Bw1, Bw2, Bw3, and BC, Profile III had 5 horizon layers ie Ap1, Ap2, Ap3, Bw1, and Bw2, Profile IV had 5 horizon layers of Ap, Apw, Bw1, Bw2, and Bw3 and Profile V had 6 horizon layers Ap1, Ap2, Ap3, Bw1, Bw2, and Bw3. DTA analysis results showed that the clay mineral species contained were allophane-a, and kaolinite. Alofan-a and kaolinite were present in all horizon layers in all profiles whereas gibsit are not present on all layers of soil horizon. Keywords : Differential Thermal Analysis, Tambunan A, Langkat Regency

Abstract

The addition of organic matter to the soil and inorganic fertilizer uses can improve soil properties. This objective of the research was to know the effect of liquid brown algae (Sargassum polycystum C.A Argadh.) compost application that combined with N and K fertilizer on chemical properties of Ultisols and growth and production of mung bean. This research was conducted in screen house and laboratory that was using a non-factorial randomized block design with 19 treatments and 2 replications. Data were analyzed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continues with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the level of 1% and 5% and Contrast Test at 5% level. The results of the research showed that the application of liquid compost of brown algae can increase soil pH (H2O) and soil available-P, but decrease soil organic-C, soil total-N, and soil exchange-K. The application of liquid compost of brown algae with various combinations of N and K fertilizers is tendency to decrease all plant parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, number of primary branches, number of pods per plant, and seed weight per plant compared without the treatment of brown algae compost. Keywords: brown algae, mung beans, ultisols

Abstract

The effect of giving goat manure and ZA fertilizer on the chemical properties of paddy soil and red onion production (Allium ascalonicum L.). The purpose was to determine the effect of goat manure and ZA fertilizer on the chemical properties and production of red onion on paddy fields. This research was conducted from April to June 2018 using factorial randomized block design (RBD) and repeated three times. The first factor is the dose of goat manure consisting of: 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 tons / ha, and the second factor is the dose of ZA fertilizer consisting of: 0, 200, 400, 600 kg / ha. The results showed that the application of goat manure significantly affected the increase of C-organic, cation exchange capacity. ZA fertilizer has a significant effect on pH reduction.
