Abstract

The importance of innovation in the agricultural sector to increase the productivity and welfare of farmers, especially in the use of environmentally friendly technologies such as Biosaka on rice plants. Although Biosaka offers a wide range of benefits, the adoption of this innovation still faces challenges, especially related to the characteristics of farmers, the nature of the innovation, and the effectiveness of extension. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of farmer characteristics, innovation nature, and counseling on the adoption of innovation in the use of Biosaka on rice plants. This study uses a quantitative method with a survey approach that involves sampling from one population and using questionnaires as a data collection tool. The research was conducted in three clusters in Pidie, East Aceh and West Aceh with a population of 50 people in each cluster so that a total of 150 respondents. The results showed that the characteristics of farmers and the nature of innovation had a significant effect on the adoption of innovations in the use of Biosaka. Farmers who have experience, education, and a certain age tend to be more receptive to the use of Biosaka because they feel the benefits and usefulness of the innovation. However, counseling on Biosaka did not have a significant effect on the adoption of this innovation, showing that the counseling carried out was still less effective in increasing farmers' understanding and interest. The implication of this study is the need to improve the quality and intensity of extension programs to better target the characteristics of farmers and increase their understanding of the benefits of Biosaka.

Abstract

The purpose of this researchanalyzed the determinants of oil palm FFB yield on each character of coastal land and mineral land in the eastern region of Aceh Province based on variety and harvest fraction. Research has been carried out using survey methods and experiments in laboratories with36 samples of palm FFB were taken for three parts which would be used as a repeat in determining the yield of CPO and fatty acids from the palm FFB. The results showed that the yield of CPO was determined by various factors, including: suitability for oil palm development areas, types (Dura and Tenera), and maturity fraction. In Dura palms with thinner mesocarf, the yield of CPO is lower than Tenera. The FFB maturity fraction at harvest greatly determines the yield of CPO and the quality of the oil. The best yield and quality of CPO on the F2 and F3 maturity fractions. The KPO yield of Dura palm is higher than that of Tenera, so it is more profitable to plant the Tenera type. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the use of dura and tenera seeds for the development of smallholder oil palm in the east coast of Aceh to obtain the quantity and quality of CPO

Abstract

Using pesticides is familiar to farmers, especially in North Aceh Regency. But the use of chemical pesticides continuously is not recommended because it have negative impacts such as increasing pest resistance, the emergence of new pests, killing the natural enemies/predators, buildup of chemical residues in crops and causing environmental pollution. Pesticides are chemical substances and other substances which use to control various pests. For farmers, the types of pests are mites, nuisance plants, plant diseases caused by fungi (fungi), bacteria, viruses, nematodes (worms that damage roots), snails, rats, birds and other animals that are considered harmful to the corps. The sustainable use of chemical pesticides will certainly damage the environment so that it can harm rural communities who generally work as farmers. The best solution is to produce organic pesticides independently with ingredients that are easily available in the surrounding environment. Therefore, State Universities in Sumatra collaborate with Corporate Social responsibility PT. Pupuk Iskandar Muda (CSR PT. PIM) as a partner of DUDI (Industrial Side) also contributed to solving this problem by implementing a training program for making organic pesticides for the women's farmer group Meugah Raya and the Raseuki Seumula farmer group in North Aceh.
