Abstract

America as one of world’s biggest developed countries has a very strong influence on global economy, politics, education, science, and military. America is also one of teaching Chinese as a foreign language destinations, therefore understanding American cultural values is very important. Article represents American cultural values based on a true story movie "The pursuit of Happiness". Research method applied was library research. It can be concluded that the characters, setting, and conflicts really presented the characteristics of American society.

Abstract

Chinese culture elements accepted for the first time by the Western countries was ceramic and silk. China's silk was found in ancient Greece during the Roman era and since then China has become the “Country of Silk”. Chinese ceramics came to the West a bit later. It was during the Song Dynasty that Western countries started accepting Chinese ceramics, and soon after that Chinese Ceramics had became a new surprise to the Western Countries and had China known as the “Country of Porcelain”. Porcelain as a cultural element is considered not only as material but also as a spirit. When the Europeans came to know the porcelain material, they had gradually been influenced by its spiritual content. Delicateness of ceramic slowly became a widely accepted aesthetic style, added with other factors that shaped the formation of the Rococo style that became very popular in Europe. This article used desk study to analyze and summarize the following three aspects: first, the impact of Chinese ceramic art on Western Rococo art, second, the art appreciation of Rococo art and third, to elaborate the influence of Chinese Ceramic and aesthetic in Western Countries.

Abstract

The research on language learning theories played important role in TCFL research. Article sorts out and summarizes the issues and theories on second language learning and vocabulary learning’s strategies from both Western and Chinese scholars. It can be summarized that  Western scholars have started a broad scope research in vocabulary learning strategies since their early times, then, the research’ results have helped to give a solid and important foundation for the development of vocabulary learning strategies nowadays. Even though TCFL scholars have realized the importance of vocabulary learning strategies in the process of second language learning and more research are being done, but until now, the amount and quality of research in this field still needs to be improved. There is still a big space in the diversity perspective of research that needs to be filled. Article presents  the history and development of the theories of vocabulary learning strategies to help impel and deepen the research of TCFL.

Abstract

This article tries to explore the usage of vocabulary learning strategies in second language learning on students with different background. It attempts to elicit useful ideas and gives a practical guidance in learning Chinese as a second language. This work explains how learning environment, cultural background and proficiency level can highly affect the choice of learning strategies. And even though students are learning different languages, there are similarities in their choice of strategies during the process of acquiring the target language.

Abstract

Constructivism theories believe that learning process should be conducted under a specific condition, which is social and cultural background of the target language. Learner’s language ability is built through communication and activities that helps to shape meaningful construction. This theory has a very high impact on teaching conversation. This article discusses the Constructivism theory, its relation on learner’s word production, psychological mechanism and teaching intermediate conversation’s characteristics, as well as the feasibility and applicability of Constructivism theory in the process on teaching intermediate conversation.
