Abstract

This paper aims to describe a traditional ritual in Tanimbar-Maluku, which is the ritual of asking for requests or applications with its own uniqueness in which the position and value of women are very high because they have a special room that no one can find, with this ritual, women's existence is in the spotlight both in the scope of the family and society in dealing with polemic about the position of women today. The problem in this paper is focused on the value of women in adat which can be implemented or equated with the reality of social life so that the position of men and women can be equal. To approach this problem the theoretical references from the theory of cultural structuralism and the theory of postmodern feminism are used to collaborate between interconnected cultural and feminist roles. The data is collected through observation and interview results from the informant descriptively ... and the data analysis conducted is qualitative analysis. The results obtained are ritual entrance asking to pay attention to the position and values of women; it is not arbitrary to get women (Tanimbar) so this paper provides a concrete contribution that reconstructs the understanding of women's position and values in cultural and social contexts so that there is a balance between men and women.

Abstract

In this paper we analyze the position of women in the social life of the Toba Batak community, in influencing others to do something called a leader. In the context of such thinking, the author wants to see why women in Toba Batak have not experienced development in leadership and want to elaborate on the process of socio-cultural transmigration in Batak Bangso especially Batak Toba in political, social and cultural aspects, the majority of whose leaders are men. This paper uses a descriptive-analytic approach and with a qualitative approach. The results of the study mentioned that women experience gender inequality which is characterized by the occurrence of subordination (numbering) and marginalization of Batak women. In the field of politics, the ideal leadership is always measured from a men's perspective, so that the position of women is increasingly weak in their interaction with the surrounding community. Domestication and marginalization of women in the public sphere seems to have been exhausted and enjoyed by women because they are educated and live in a patriarchal culture by believing and believing in diverting religious teachings that are understood in a discriminatory way, and perpetuating women's alienation.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to see how changes occur in the rituals of death in Toraja specifically in Gandangbatu. The intended death ritual is the Ma'bulle Tomate ritual. This Ma'bulle Tomate ritual is one of the rituals contained in Rambu Solo. The method used is a qualitative research method with interview and observation techniques. The Ma'bulle Tomate ritual in Gandangbatu has experienced a clear shift in its practice, which in the past in Aluk Todolo beliefs was accompanied by badong, now replaced by singing. the author found that the meaning of badong in Aluk Todolo is as a medium to express the social status of the dead in society, the completeness of the ritual of his death, prayer requests to Puang Matua so that the deceased get a decent place in puya (a place of waiting) and those who live long life and blessed by Puang Matua. While the meaning of the song in Ma'bulle Tomate is the Christian hymn is just a worship of God and comfort to the family. Through the theoretical approach of Massimo Rosati in the book 'Ritual and Sacred' finally can understand and discover how changes occur in the Ma'bulle Tomate Ritual and the meaning of badong in Aluk Todolo before the entry of Christianity in Gandangbatu.
