Abstract

Untuk itu, kegiatan PSBM telah dijadikan sebagai salah satu program utama pengelolaan sampah. kata kunci: pengelolaan sampah, kader lingkungan, daur ulang, pengomposanAbstractCommunity-based solid waste management (CBSWM) is the solid waste management that are planned, developed, operated, managed and owned by the local community. CBSWM is very important role to reduce the problem of municipal solid waste. This concept is widely applied in various places, including in Rawasari, Central Jakarta. The study was conducted to determine the progress of the CBSWM in Rawasari, which specifically aims to: (i) monitoring and evaluation, (ii) coaching and mentoring, (iii) socializing and publication. Abstract

Early sorting process in composting municipal solid waste is labour intensive, so that the production cost is high. This research is carried out to know how the quality of the compost product and the characteristic of composting process if the early sorting is not done. The research result shows that without early sorting composting process has been done well, similar or not different significantly to the process with early sorting and has good quality. The positive result of this research is to increase the efficiency of the worker or reduce the production cost of manufacturing compost, because the process in making heap can increase from 1 m3 / person / day to 3 m3 / person / day. Key Words: Compost, composing, municipal solid waste, sorting

Abstract

The large scale composting activity needs mechanical equipments foroperational efficiency like The Cakung Slaughterhouse has been done.Installation of mechanical equipments and buildings make it costly compare tomanual composting activities. The cost of mechanical composting need to becounted such as investment, operation and maintenance cost in order to getthe specific cost of compost production. This can be used for pricing compostproduct. According to the analysis, the best pricing for compost product is morethan Rp. 807/kg, for example Rp. 1000/kg compost. It means that CakungSlaughterhouse need increase gradually the existing compost price from Rp.500/kg to Rp. 1000/kg compost. It need for guarantying for sustainable compostproduction.Key Words: Slaughterhouse, mechanical compost, specific cost

Abstract

Kampung Banjarsari is a model of community based waste management in the Jakarta metropolitan area. It is becoming an example of an environmentally friendly kampung for other communities from different part of the country. What the Banjarsari reached is the results of very tight cooperation between Banjarsari community, UNESCO and Yayasan Kirai and BPPT since 1996. The main activities in Banjarsari are focused on (1) establishment of an environmental committee at the community level, (2) improvement of the waste collection system (sorting of waste), (3) capitalization on waste trough alternative livelihood activities (paper recycling, composting, growing of plants using locally produced compost as fertiliser), (4) greening programmes, and (5) public awareness.

Abstract

AbstractThe quality and productivity degrade of agricultural land resources mainly due to the low level of C-organic content and the fertilizing that do not use organic fertilizers. The way to solve it is by restoring the organic matter to agricultural land through the use of compost or organic fertilizer granules made from compost. Compost should be made from all organic materials that have potential. The high level of municipal solid waste generation with a high percentage of organic matter, contain the characteristics that are suitable to made a good quality compost, in order to meet the needs of organic fertilizer. Compost has the ability to improve and enhance the physical, biological and chemical soil properties. The successful of compost or other organic fertilizer utilization program is mainly depend on the stakeholders support, as well as the confidence of farmers to use organic fertilizer. With the availability of good quality of organic fertilizer, which is given in a balanced way with chemical fertilizers, the quality and productivity of agricultural land resources can be improved to support and strengthen the food self-sufficiency.Key words: Agricultural land resource, organic fertilizer, municipal solid waste, compost, food self sufficiency.

Abstract

Solid waste from “agar-agar” (gelation made of seaweed) factory in huge amount and has potency to pollute the environment if it is not well managed, obviously has opportunity to be used as compost. The purpose of this research is to find out the characteristic of composting process of agar-agar factory’s waste, and the quality of its compost product, based on 2 ( two ) treatments i.e. with and without the use chicken manure starter. In general, result of the research showing that there is no significant different between using chicken manure starter and not using chiken manure starter, with understanding that both composting process can be done in aerobic condition (normal) with compost quality according to mature compost criteria. However, specifically the rate of waste decomposition (composting process) of using chicken manure starter looks faster in initial period of decomposition.Key words : compost, “agar-agar” factory waste, chiken manure starter.

Abstract

TPA is the main priority in handling municipal solid waste in Indonesia, with many problems and challenges. TPST is one of other alternatives in handling solid waste in accordance with Solid Waste Management Law No. 18 year 2008, therefore it has an important role in reducing heavy burden of TPA. Activities that can be done in TPST are collecting, sorting, re-using, re-cycling, treatment of fi nal processing, either for organic solid waste or for inorganic solid waste. However, based on characteristic of municipal waste, it’s better the stressing activities are pointed to organic solid waste treatment that make composting as the main alternative activity. Government support and help are much needed in order that TPST activity can be optimally done. Keywords : municipal solid waste, integrated treatment facility, composting

Abstract

Organic materials that are generally used as raw material for organic fertilizer granules (POG) is a natural organic material that has been degrade, smooth and dry. One of the main raw materials are always used with a very high percentage of usage, is manure. Manure potential in Indonesia is very high, amounting to 113.6 million tons per year, or 64.7 million tons per year to the island of Java. From this amount, it will be generated numbers POG production potential of 17.5 million tons per year (total Indonesia) or 9.9 million tons per year for the island of Java. While the realistic POG production predictions figures made from raw manure is 2.5 million tons annually, a figure that has been unable to meet the number requirement of POG greater than 4 million tons per year. Therefore, in producing POG, it should be to maximize the using of the potential of other organic materials so that the use of manure can be saved. With the use of a small amount of manure (maximum 30% for cow manure), it would be useful also to avoid the production of POG with high Fe content.keywods: organic material, manure, granule organic fertilizer
