Abstract

Dalam permainan baseball memiliki suatu teknik dasar antara lain Lambungan (pitching), menangkap (catching), melempar (throwing), lari antar base (base running), dan memukul (hitting). Seorang pitcher harus memperhatikan berbagai faktor untuk memaksimalkan hasil lemparannya, seperti mekanise gerak tubuh, keseimbangan dan kontrol terhadap gaya gravitasi bumi. Didalam lemparan seorang pitcher memiliki unsur kecepatan dan ketepatan. Didalam hakikat belajar gerak, gerakan pitching termasuk kedalam gerakan manipulatif yaitu gerakan yang mempermainkan sebuah objek tertentu  sebagai  medianya  diantaranya  melemparkan bola  ke  sasaran  atau  target. Seorang pitcher harus memiliki keterampilan terbuka (open skill) dan keterampilan tertutup (close skill) Untuk menjadi seorang pitcher yang handal harus melalui beberapa tahapan kemampuan motorik, yaitu dimulai dari tahapan kognitif, tahap asosiatif dan tahap otomatisasi, dimana seorang pitcher sudah tidak harus berpikir ketika akan melakukan lemparan. Ukuran keberhasilan lemparan dari seorang pitcher dapat dilihat dari bagaimana dia menangkap suatu informasi melalui panca indera yang dikirim ke otak dan menghasilkan suatu persepsi gerak lalu disimpan di memori. Akhir dari proses ini adalah terjadinya umpan balik berupa gerakan yang ditimbulkan akibat adanya respon dan stimulus.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of training principles in the coaching of long jump techniques among students of the Faculty of Sports Science, Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED). The research adopts a descriptive qualitative design to explore the extent to which fundamental training principles specificity, overload, progression, individualization, variation, and recovery are applied during long jump coaching sessions. Data were gathered through observation, semi-structured interviews with student-athletes and coaches, and document analysis of training plans. The results indicate partial implementation of scientific training principles, particularly a strong focus on general physical conditioning rather than technical refinement. Coaches tend to emphasize repetitive practice without sufficient variation or progressive overload, while feedback mechanisms are inconsistently applied. The study highlights both theoretical and empirical gaps in the pedagogical integration of training principles within the higher education context. Recommendations are proposed to enhance the effectiveness of technique-oriented coaching by strengthening planning, evaluation, and athlete-centered approaches
