Abstract

Abstract

Kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata (L.) King & H.E Robins) is one of the plants of the Asteraceae family that is commonly used by the community as a wound healing medicinal ingredient and has antioxidant and antibacterial activities. This research was conducted to determine the type of secondary metabolite compounds contained in the crude extract, n-Hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol-water fraction kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata (L.) King & H.E Robins) and determine the level of toxicity against to Artemia salina L. using the BSLT method. Phytochemical test results of crude extract leaves kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata (L.) King & H.E Robins) contain alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and phenolics. The n-Hexane fraction contains steroids and quinones. The ethyl acetate fraction contains flavonoids and phenolics. The methanol-water fraction contains flavonoids, saponins and phenolics. Based on toxicity tests, crude extract, n-hexane, ethyl acetate fractions of kirinyuh leaves is highly toxic with successive LC50 values of 2.88 ppm, 8.12 ppm and 6.86 ppm, then the methanol-water fraction is toxic with an LC50 value of 186.76 ppm. Keywords: Kirinyuh leaves, phytochemicals, toxicity

Abstract

Nipah (Nypa fruticans Wurmb) is a mangrove plant from the Palmae tribe that grows along rivers that are affected by tides. The abundance of nipa palm in mangrove forests is quite high, so it has great potential to be developed. This review aims to discuss the potential anti-inflammatory activity of nipah leaves as traditional medicine, so that they can add value to nipah leaves and can be useful in the health sector. The literature search was carried out through Google Scholar and Scholar research papers related to the ability of anti-inflammatory activity in nipah leaves and other Arecaceae families. Nipah leaf extract contains secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids, phenolics, tannins, steroid saponins and triterpenoids. Flavonoids can function as inhibitors of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes so that they can be used to treat anti-inflammatory. Based on the literature, it can be concluded that nipah leaves are potentially effective as traditional medicine in treating inflammation or inflammation. Keywords: Nipah (Nypa fruticans Wurmb), anti-inflammatory and flavonoids

Abstract

Kenitu (Chrysophyllum cainito L.) is one of the plants that has the potential to cure fever, diarrhea and inflammation of the respiratory tract. This study aimed to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration value of kenitu leaf methanol extract (Chrysophyllum cainito L.) against Salmonella thypi bacteria ATCC 422. The minimum inhibitory concentration value of kenitu (Chrysophyllum cainito L.) against Salmonella thypi ATCC 422 bacteria was 0.625 %. The presence of antibacterial activity of kenitu leaf methanol extract (Chrysophyllum cainito L.) contains secondary metabolite compounds of alkaloid, phenolic and steroid groups. Keywords: Chrysophyllum cainito L., antibacterial, minimum inhibitory concentration, Salmonella thypi ATCC 422

Abstract

Antiinflammatory activity tests of extract and fractions of kenitu Leaves (Chrysopyllum cainito L) in vitro were carried out. This research aimed to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of crude extract methanol of kenitu leave with protein denaturation inhibition method by using BSA (Bovine serum albumin). Diclofenac sodium was used as positive control and the negative control used the appropriate solvent. Based on phytochemical screening test, methanol extracts are known to contain secondary metabolites including flavonoids, alkaloids and phenolics. The results of the anti-inflammatory activity test of methanol extract have moderate anti-inflammatory potential with an IC50 value of 196,29 ppm. Keywords: Chrysopyllum cainito L, Secondary metabolites, Anti-inflammatory, 50% inhibition concentration.
