ABSTRACT Rice straw is an agricultural waste in Indonesia that can be used as animal feed. This research aimed to examine the effect of feed processing technology on the values of rice straw dry matter digestibility and digestibility of organic matter in the local ram. The research was conducted in the Laboratory of Animal Biology University of North Sumatra. This research used 20 local rams with initial body weight of 11.16 ± 0.98 kg and design used was completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatment consists of P1 (mechanically treated rice straw with chopper), P2 (chemically treated rice straw with NaOH), P3 (biologically treated rice straw with Aspergillus niger) and P4 (rice straw treated mechanically, chemically and biologically). The results showed no significantly different (P> 0.05), ie the consumption average of dry matter (g / head / day) 529.50; 522.02; 530.82 and 496.16 respectively. Consumption average of organic matter (g / head / day) 498.71; 473.27; 505.80, and 461.79 respectively. Digestibility average of dry matter 46.73; 45.11; 47.05 and 45.00 respectively Digestibility average of organic matter 57.12; 55.93; 58.91 and 54.42 respectively. Based on this research, the use of feed processing technology on rice straw showed non significantly different effect on digestibility of dry matter and organic matter of local ram. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh teknologi pengolahan pakan pada jerami padi terhadap nilai kecernaan bahan kering dan kecernaan bahan organik pada domba jantan lokal. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Biologi Ternak Universitas Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan 20 ekor domba jantan lokal dengan bobot badan awal 11,16 ± 0,98 kg dan rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas P1 (jerami padi diolah secara mekanik dengan chopper), P2 (jerami padi diolah secara kimiawi dengan NaOH), P3 (jerami padi diolah secara biologi dengan Aspergillus niger) dan P4 (jerami padi diolah secara mekanik, kimiawi dan biologi). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05), yaitu rataan konsumsi bahan kering (g/ekor/hari) 529,50; 522,02; 530,82 dan 496,16. Rataan konsumsi bahan organik (g/ekor/hari) 498,71; 473,27; 505,80 dan 461,79. Rataan kecernaan bahan kering 46,73; 45,11; 47,05 dan 45,00. Rataan kecernaan bahan organik 57,12; 55,93; 58,91 dan 54,42. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian penggunaan teknologi pakan pada jerami padi menunjukkan pengaruh yang tidak berbeda nyata terhadap kecernaan bahan kering dan organik domba jantan lokal.
