XYZ merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang industri mebel dan ukir kayu, dengan hasil produksinya berupa almari, buffet, kursi dan meja tamu, kursi teras, jam hias, relief serta soufenir. Hasil produksi tersebut didistribusikan oleh perusahaan secara langsung ke daerah pemasarannya menggunakan armada milik perusahaan yaitu truk dan mobil pick up. Dalam operasionalnya, perusahaan mengeluarkan biaya transportasi yang cukup besar, yang menyebabkan perusahaan kehilangan kesempatan untuk memperoleh keuntungan seperti yang diharapkannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meminimumkan biaya transportasi, Dengan menggunakan analisa jarak tempuh optimal dan Metode Minimal Spanning Tree, dapat memberikan solusi optimal dengan menghasilkan total jarak tempuh yang minimal dengan prosedur penghubungan langsung pada titik-titik (node) yang ada pada sebuah jaringan seperti pada jaringan distribusi. Hasil perhitungan biaya transportasi distribusi produk setelah analisa menggunakan metode Minimal Spanning Tree ini dapat memberikan penghematan biaya transportasi pada bulan Juli 2010 sebesar Rp.659.800 atau dengan persentase sebesar 8,9 % dan penghematan pada bulan Agustus sebesar Rp.1.837.500 dengan persentase sebesar 20,69 %..Kata Kunci : Jarak, Biaya, Minimal Spanning Tree (MST).ABSTRACTPT.
