Abstract

Oral and dental health is important for anyone, including children with special needs. According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the role of parents, especially mothers, is very important in maintaining the cleanliness of their child's teeth and mouth. Especially in autistic children, caries and gingivitis are encountered, and while their behavior will cause dental care to be rather difficult. Dental caries is a dental tissue disease characterized by tissue damage, starting from the surface of the tooth extending towards the pulp. The study was to determine the relationship of knowledge and attitudes of parents with the prevalence of dental caries in autistic children in the School of Children with Special Needs of Jambi City. This study used a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling as many as 30 respondents. The measuring instruments used were questionnaires and dental caries observation sheets. Prevalence of dental caries was 77% or 23 children had caries, knowledge of parents of autistic children was 86.7% or 26 people had high criteria while those with moderate criteria were 13.3% or 4 people and attitudes in parents of autistic children were as much as 76.7% or 23 people have good criteria while those that have good criteria are 23.3% or 7 people. There is relationship between the level of knowledge of parents with the prevalence of dental caries in autistic children (p value = 0.031) and OR = 16.5 and there is relationship between attitudes of parents with the prevalence of dental caries (p value = 0.033), and OR = 8.88. There is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of parents with the prevalence of dental caries in autistic children and there is a significant relationship between attitudes of parents with the prevalence of dental caries.

Abstract

Pasien skizofrenia merupakan ganguan jiwa dengan resiko karies dan penyakit periodontal yang tinggi. Kondisi kesehatan gigi dan mulut pasien skizofrenia yang buruk disebabkan kondisi mental pasien itu sendiri, penggunaan obat  anti anxiety  dan obat penenang lainnya, kurangnya fasilitas kesehatan gigi, pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang minim, kemampuan serta kurangnya pendampingan dari tenaga kesehatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah  untuk mengembangkan model asuhan kesehatan gigi dan mulut untuk pasien skizofrenia di ruang rawat inap Rumah Sakit Jiwa Daerah Provinsi Jambi.Rancangan penelitian ini adalah penelitian terapan, metode kualitatif dengan pengambilan sample dengan teknik purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel berdasarkan kesesuaian dan kecukupan.Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa memungkinkan untuk melakukan asuhan kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada pasien skizofrenia di ruaang rawat inap Rumah Sakit Jiwa Daerah Provinsi Jambi oleh terapis gigi yang bertugas di ruang rawat inap. Asuhan berupa kegiatan promotif dengan penyuluhan, kegiatan preventive melakukan menyikat gigi, dan tindakan konsul  ke poli gigi dapat dilakukan

Abstract

Pembangunan kesehatan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran, kemauan dan kemampuan hidup sehat bagi setiap orang agar terwujud derajat kesehatan yang setinggi tingginya. Salah satu strategi utama Kementerian Kesehatan RI adalah untuk meningkatkan akses masyarakat terhadap pelayanan kesehatan yang berkualitas yaitu melalui Puskesmas. Pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Poli Gigi Puskesmas mencakup pelayanan medis gigi yang dilakukan oleh dokter gigi serta pelayanan asuhan kesehatan gigi dan mulut oleh Terapis Gigi dan Mulut (TGM). Jenis penelitian survey desriptif, pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, pada seluruh pengunjung di Poli Gigi Puskesmas Rawat Inap Tanjung Kabupaten Muaro Jambi berumur diatas 12 tahun yang bersedia mengisi kuesioner setelah dilakukan perawatan. Kepuasan pasien terhadap sikap dalam pelayanan yang diberikan oleh TGM di Poli Gigi Puskesmas Rawat Inap Tanjung, paling banyak dengan kriteria puas sebesar 66,6 % dan masih ada yang berkriteria kurang puas sebesar 2,8%. Kepuasan pasien terhadap terhadap fasilitas penunjang pelayanan TGM, paling banyak dengan kriteria puas 61,1%, serta yang berkriteria cukup puas 38,9%.

Abstract

Children with special needs is one of Indonesia's human resources whose quality must be improved in order to play a role, not only as the object of development but also as the subject of development. Children with special needs need to be identified and identified from the group of children in general, because they require special services, such as medical services, special education and specific exercises aimed at reducing the limitations and dependence of the disorder suffered, and foster self-reliance in the community. The purpose of this study was to obtain in-depth information about dental and oral health care behavior in children with autism in Harapan Mulia Special School in South Jambi. Qualitative research method using indepth interview with triangulation of source that is parent or caregiver, teachers and psychologist who build in SLB Harapan Mulia. The results show that the behavior of maintaining good oral hygiene in children with autism depending on the mother or caregiver. Supporting factors include the availability of dental and oral health facilities are still lacking, most of the informants looking for dental services or dentists who are known or trusted, not crowded so that children can also be comfortable and children not too long waiting. Reinforcing factor the behavior of maintaining good oral hygiene in children with autism at home is his mother or caregiver, while in school is a teacher companion.
