Abstract

Laskar Pelangi tetralogy is a series of four novels that reveal the journey of Ikal to fulfill his dreams. The purpose of this research is to explore the psychological dynamics of Ikal during his journey. A close reading method is used to collect the data, followed by analysis based on the research question using psycho-cybernetics theory as a framework. Ikal’s psychological dynamics centered in self-image, goal setting, and the effort toward the goal. Ikal had three positive self images, that had big impacts on the whole process of his goal-fulfilling process. In the goal setting he had two main goals, that could be divided into private and social dimension. The effort to fulfill the goal relies on the mosaic pieces philosophy. Abstract

The social media viral effect requires movie producers to consider achieving excellence in narrative art as well as incorporating measures for increasing the popularity and profitability of their work. In this script, Behind the Feed, the phenomenon of viral effect is demonstrated through a character named Lintang, a film graduate who utilizes viral effect through buying counterfeit views and followers to save a shelter for street kids, help take care of her family, and entice film companies. This qualitative narrative investigation applies theories related to Deception Behavior Theory and Image Repair Theory in incorporating aspects of how manipulating viral effect leads to a degradation of professional trust and relations. Restoration comes through admitting a mistake, taking corrective actions, and restoring a definition of success based on qualitative aspects opposed to quantity.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the impacts of othering on human-ghoul hybrids in Tokyo Ghoul and the coping mechanisms they develop to deal with the impacts. The topic was chosen because the text’s plot is directly driven by the impacts of othering. The applied concepts are taken from Said’s “othering”, Bhabha’s mimicry, hybridity & ambivalence, and Glissant’s rhizomatic identity. The main impacts of othering are alienation and aggression. Alienation forces hybrids into a normless state, in which they are powerless. They become more aggressive to resist threats posed by humans and ghouls. The main coping mechanism developed by the hybrids is to build identities that mimic the pure parties. In conclusion, the hybrids experience othering. Therefore, they are alienated and are forced to become aggressive to resist the othering. The aforementioned factors impact the hybrids negatively. Thus, they cope by mimicking the norms of the “self” to develop rhizomatic identities.

Abstract

Emily Dickinson's poem Hope is the Thing with Feathers depicts hope as a powerful presence within the human soul that endures under any circumstances. However, the poem's natural symbolism can also be used to portray hope as a spiritual energy inherent in the human spirit. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the poem's transcendental significance by looking at how natural elements serve as a medium for connecting human experience to spiritual values. This analysis draws on Buell’s conception of transcendentalist aesthetics to interpret Emily’s use of nature as a spiritual medium, employing Lawrence Buell’s Literary Transcendentalism: Style and Vision in the American Renaissance (1973) as its primary theoretical framework. In addition, the interpretation uses Christian symbolic tradition as an intertextual reference to highlight the spiritual resonance of the poem's imagery, without addressing biblical texts as sources of religious doctrine. The findings show that Emily uses nature as a type of spiritual reflection to mediate the link between humans and the divine. As a result, the bird in the poem serves as more than just a sign of hope; it can also be regarded as symbolically resonating with depictions of the Holy Spirit, who sustains hope within the human soul.
