Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the feasibility of genetics and the key lab instructions have been developed. This type of research is done is research and development using DModels Three, namely Design, Define, and Development. The results showed hint key lab of genetics and obtained a mean score ≥ 3.5 (scale range 1-4) are considered theoretically feasible. Practical tips genetics legibility obtain a positive response rates of 89% is considered very good.

Abstract

Students commonly judge that cell metabolism topic is arduous since they only listen to their teacher and memorizing concept without a deep comprehension. Other than that, a direct explanation could not enhance the students’ science process skills. Thus, this research intended to analyze the differences of the content-analysis and science process skills between the students experiencing a learning that oriented to scientific independence (experimental class) and those joining a direct learning (control class). The materials taught in both classes were cell metabolism. This study employed the quantitative of the quasi-experimental method. The research object was the students learning Biology. The students joining a scientific independence-based class were able to answer questions requiring analytical thinking. The relationship of the students’ scientific independence towards the content analysis and science process skills was seen on the test. Based upon the statistical data analysis, the correlation significance was 0,038<0,05. Therefore, it concluded that there was a very significant correlation between the students’ scientific independence towards the content analysis and science process skills.

Abstract

The study aimed to compare the egg production and hatchability of local ducks under different management systems, namely semi-intensive and extensive. The research conducted was an experimental one-way classification withtwo treatments. Each treatment used 15 male and 120 females (mating ratio 1:8), and ducks aged 13-14 months. Eggs production was recorded during three weeks period. About300 eggs were selected from each treatment to be hatched. Fertility was observedat 4th days of hatching process using egg candler. Data of eggs production, eggs weight, fertility, and hatchability were analyzed using unpaired two sample Student’s t-test. The results showed that average of egg weight, fertility and hatchability were notdifferent under two managementsystem, but egg production in the semi-intensive maintenance was significantly higher (P<0.05) thanthose inthe extensive system.Egg production in the semi-intensivewas 12.3% higher than those in the extensive. In conclusion, the semi-intensive system that is applied in this study the number of eggs production but did not affect the average of egg weight, fertility and hatchability.
