Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis apakah kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang belajar melalui problem based learning lebih tinggi dari yang belajar melalui discovery learning di SMK Negeri 2 Medan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 2 Medan dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI TP 1 sebanyak 34 orang dan kelas XI LP 1 sebanyak 34 orang. Kelas XI TP 1 belajar melalui problem based learning dan kelas XI LP 1 belajar melalui discovery learning. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan Teknik Statistik Deskriptif dan Inferensial. Teknik statistik deskriptif digunakan untuk mendeskriptifkan data hasil penelitian dengan menghitung nilai rata-rata skor, standar deviasi dan varians. Teknik statistika inferensial digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian, dimana teknik inferensial yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah uji-t. Hasil analisis data pada kelas eksperimen I diperoleh nilai rata-rata post-test 83,17, standar deviasi post-test 7,35 dan varians post-test 54,14. Pada kelas eksperimen II diperoleh rata-rata post-test 78,82, standar deviasi post-test 7,94 dan varians post-test 63,05. Dari analisis data post-test dengan menggunakan uji-t pada taraf = 0,05 diperoleh thitung = 1,858 > ttabel = 1,6693 berarti H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang belajar melalui problem based learning lebih tinggi dari yang belajar melalui discovery learing di SMK Negeri 2 Medan. AbstractThis research aimed to analyze whether the mathematical problem solving ability of students who learn through problem-based learning is higher than those who learn through discovery learning at SMK Negeri 2 Medan. The population in this research were all students of class XI SMK Negeri 2 Medan and sample in this research was class XI TP 1 involving 34 students and XI LP 1 involving 34 students. Class XI TP 1 learnt through problem based learning and class XI LP 1 learnt through discovery learning. This research was a quasi-experiment. In this research used a descriptive and inferential statistics technique. Descriptive statistical techniques are used to describe the research data by calculating the average score value, standard deviation and variance. Inferential statistical techniques are used to test hypotheses of the study, which the inferential techniques used in this study are the t-test. The results of the data analysis of the experimental class I obtained the post-test average value 83.17, post-test standard deviation 7.35 and a post-test variance 54.14. In the experimental class II gained the post-test average value 78.82, post-test standard deviation 7.94 and a post-test variance 63.05. From the post-test data analysis using t-test at the level off = 0.05 was obtained tcalculete = 1,858> ttable = 1.6693 means H0 rejected and Ha be accepted. It can be concluded that the mathematical problem solving ability of students who learn through problem-based learning is higher than those who learning through discovery learing at SMK Negeri 2 Medan.
