Abstract

Abstract. Learning science in schools could be very "challenging" for the teachers since they have to implement scientific learning which focuses on student-centered as much as possible. This research was oriented on a scientific approach in which related to process skills and student learning outcomes. The pre-experimental research used a one-shot case study design. The research was conducted on VIII-A class at one of the state junior high schools in Palangka Raya. The data collection techniques were observation and written tests. The results showed that: (1) there were 40% of students who had science process skills in the very good category, 44% in the good category, and 16% in the fair category; (2) there were 73.33% of the students who had achieved the learning outcomes mastery. The application of the scientific approach had positive impact on science process skills and student learning outcomes. However, another interesting finding was that the students still had difficulties in linking the material being studied with everyday reality.Keywords: science learning. scientific approach, process skills.Abstrak. Pembelajaran IPA di sekolah sangat “menantang” guru sedapat mungkin mengimplementasikan pembelajaran saintifik yang berpusat pada peserta didik. Penelitian ini berorientasi pada pendekatan saintifik, kaitannya dengan keterampilan proses dan hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian pre-experimental design ini menggunakan one-shot case study. Penelitian dilakukan pada peserta didik kelas VIII-A pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Palangka Raya. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan tes tertulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Sebanyak 40% peserta didik memiliki keterampilan proses sains dengan kategori yang sangat baik, 44% dengan kategori baik, dan 16% dengan kategori cukup baik. (2) Sebanyak 73.33% peserta didik telah mencapai ketuntasan hasil belajar. Penerapan pendekatan Saintifik berdampak positif terhadap capaian keterampilan proses sains serta hasil belajar peserta didik. Namun demikian, temuan menarik lainnya adalah peserta didik masih kesulitan mengaitkan materi yang dipelajari dengan realita sehari-hari.Kata kunci: pembelajaran IPA. pendekatan saintifik, keterampilan proses.

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study is to describe the understanding of the direct current electric circuit basic concept that posses by senior high school students and natural science (physics) student teacher. The research instrument used in this study was the concept understanding test in the form of objective test that accompanied by certainty of response index (CRI). This test was developed from some relevant studies. The concept understanding test was given to 30 senior high school students and also 32 graduate students of physics education study program in Palangka Raya City. From the study result, it was found that the same of the kind of missconception problem tends to be found among the senior high school students and also the graduate students, for example is the concept of the consumption model of electric current and battery are the fixed current supply. The missconceptions on the direct current circuit that found in this study were also have been founded in some studies from other countries for various group of age and level of study.  Keywords: missconception, electric circuit, direct current, CRI. Abstrak. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai pemahaman siswa di sekolah menengah (SMA) dan mahasiswa calon guru IPA (fisika) terhadap konsep dasar rangkaian listrik arus searah. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes pemahaman konsep dengan pilihan ganda beralasan terbuka disertai dengan certainty of response index (CRI). Tes ini dikembangkan dari beberapa studi yang relevan. Tes pemahaman konsep diberikan kepada 30 siswa SMA dan 32 mahasiswa Prodi S1 Pendidikan Fisika yang berada di Kota Palangka Raya. Berdasarkan hasil studi ditemukan kesalahan konsep (miskonsepsi) yang cenderung sama pada siswa dan mahasiswa, antara lain model konsumsi arus listrik dan baterai merupakan sumber arus listrik yang tetap. Kesalahan konsep (miskonsepsi) mengenai rangkaian listrik arus searah yang ditemukan dalam studi ini juga ditemukan di beberapa studi di luar negeri pada berbagai kelompok umur dan jenjang pendidikan. Kata kunci: miskonsepsi, rangkaian listrik, arus searah, CRI

Abstract

Abstract. Everyone must experience regular day and night changes. The question is: how could the day and night shift occur? It is often not all people's understanding of the event is in accordance with scientific concepts. This article describes the conceptions of a number of students about the day and night turnover events. This study was carried out through pictures and explanations from each participant's interview. Participants in this study consisted of 10 high school students and 16 first year students of Physics Education Study Program, all participants lived in Palangka Raya and its surroundings. Based on the results of the study, students still have many misconceptions about day-night shifts, for example the conception of revolving Earth models, rotation models, revolving sun-moon models, and blocking models. The conceptions found in this study have similarities with the results of studies abroad in various age groups and levels of education. Keywords: day and night, conception, scientific concept Abstrak. Setiap orang pasti mengalami pergantian siang dan malam secara beraturan. Pertanyaannya: bagaimana peristiwa pergantian siang dan malam itu bisa terjadi? Seringkali tidak semua pemahaman orang-orang terhadap peristiwa tersebut sesuai dengan konsep ilmiah. Artikel ini mendeskripsikan konsepsi dari beberapa siswa dan mahasiswa tentang peristiwa pergantian siang dan malam. Studi ini dilaksanakan melalui gambar dan penjelasan dari wawancara masing-masing partisipan. Partisipan dalam studi ini terdiri dari: 10 siswa sekolah menengah dan 16 mahasiswa tahun pertama Prodi Pendidikan Fisika, seluruh partisipan tinggal di Kota Palangka Raya dan sekitarnya. Berdasarkan hasil studi, pada siswa dan mahasiswa masih banyak konsepsi-konsepsi yang salah tentang pergantian siang-malam, misalnya konsepsi revolving Earth model, rotation model, revolving sun-moon model, dan blocking model. Konsepsi-konsepsi yang ditemukan dalam studi ini memiliki kemiripan dengan hasil-hasil studi di luar negeri pada berbagai kelompok umur dan jenjang pendidikan. Kata kunci: siang dan malam, konsepsi, konsep ilmiah
