Abstract

AbstractProduction of floating fish feed independently by fish farmer group currently constrained with types of extruders available. Single screw extruders used fail to produce floating fish feed. It caused by the extrusion process is not optimal due to either temperature or improper screw speed. An alternative solution is using extruder twin screw with temperature and screw speed can be controlled. The objective of the study is developing and assessing of twin screw extruder performance in producing floating fish feed. Principle work of extruders is conveying and mixing feed stuff to the dies under high temperature and pressure. The main component of extruder consists of a motor drive, screw, barrel, heater, dies, and cutter. Evaluation of extruder performance involve temperature, screw speed, engine power, and quality of feed produced that are floatability and unit density. The result of design and assessment are obtained prototype of twin screw extruders which have capacity 10,93 kg/h, stability temperature and screw speed, the power requirement is 5,17 kW, specific mechanical energy 136,11 kj.kg-1. Produced fish feed have floatability 96% and unit density 0,620 (mg/mm3). Abstrak Pembuatan pakan ikan terapung secara mandiri oleh kelompok pembudidaya saat ini terkendala jenis ekstruder yang tersedia. Ekstruder single screw yang digunakan belum bisa menghasilkan pakan ikan terapung. Karena proses ekstrusi yang tidak optimal baik disebabkan suhu maupun putaran screw yang tidak tepat. Sebagai alternatif ialah dengan menggunakan ekstruder twin screw dengan suhu dan putaran yang bisa dikontrol. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan dan menguji kinerja ekstruder twin screw dalam memproduksi pakan ikan terapung. Prinsip kerja dari ekstruder adalah mendorong dan mengaduk bahan pakan menuju dies dalam kondisi tekanan dan panas yang tinggi. Komponen utama ekstruder terdiri dari motor penggerak, twin screw, barrel, element pemanas, dies dan pemotong. Pengujian kinerja meliputi suhu, kecepatan screw, daya mesin serta kualitas pakan yang dihasilkan berupa daya apung dan unit density. Hasil desain dan pengujian diperoleh mesin ekstruder dengan kapasitas 10,93 kg/jam, suhu dan putaran screw stabil saat dioperasikan, kebutuhan daya sebesar 5,17 kW, specific mechanical energy 136,11 kj.kg-1. Pakan ikan yang dihasilkan memiliki daya apung 96 % dan unit density 0,620 (mg/mm3).

Abstract

Saat ini harga tepung ikan yang merupakan sumber protein utama terus mengalami kenaikan sehingga dibutuhkan sumber protein lainnya yang bisa mengganti peran tepung ikan dalam pakan ikan terapung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh bahan pengganti tepung ikan terhadap kualitas fisik pakan. Bahan yang digunakan ialah tepung larva Hermetia illucens dan tepung Azolla sp. Metode penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan formula pakan yang berbeda yaitu perbandingan tepung ikan dengan tepung larva H. illucens atau Azolla sp. berturut-turut 100%:0%; 75%:25%; 50%:50%; dan 25%:75%. Parameter yang diamati meliputi kadar protein, rasio pengembangan, unit density, daya apung, dan kekerasan pakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penggantian tepung ikan dengan tepung larva dalam formula menghasilkan kadar protein yang tidak berbeda nyata, berkurangnya rasio pengembangan, meningkatnya unit density, turunnya daya apung, dan meningkatkan kekerasan pakan. Sedangkan penggantian dengan tepung Azolla sp. memberikan efek terhadap turunnya kadar protein, turunnya rasio pengembangan dan kekerasan pakan namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap unit density dan daya apung pakan. Berdasarkan hasil ini tepung Azolla memiliki potensi sebagai pengganti sebagian tepung ikan dalam pembuatan pakan ikan terapung.Fish meal prices continue to increase, which has led to research efforts of finding other protein sources to replace fish meal in floating fish feed. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of alternative fish meal replacements on the physical quality of feed. Alternative replacement ingredients were Hermetia illucens larval meal and Azolla meal. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisted of different ratios of fish meal with H. illucens larval meal and Azolla meal combination of 100%:0%, 75%:25%, 50%:50%, and 25%:75%, respectively. The parameters observed included protein content, expansion ratio, unit density, floatability, and hardness of feed. The study found that the larval meal produced similar protein content, reduced expansion ratios, increased unit density, decreased floatability and increased hardness of feed. The replacement of fish meal with Azolla meal had decreased the protein content, expansion ratio, and hardness of the feed. However, the substitution did not affect the unit density and floatability of feed. Based on this result Azolla meal has potential as replacement of fish meal partially in producing floating fish meal.

Abstract

Currently, requirement of ice as medium fish cooling in PP Sadeng has not been fulfilled. This causes deterioration of fish quality when received by the consumers. The self production of ice blocks using ice maker machine has not solved this problem due to the highly operating costs, especially fuel. Photovoltaic (PV) systems are expected to overcome this problem. PV systems have high potential, since it is clean, environment-friendly, secure, and renewable. This paper explains the stages of PV system design, including PV module size, battery, solar charge controller, inverter, and also economic feasibility analysis. The results show that energy requirement of ice maker machines is 19,383.60 watts. The PV system consists of 40 units of 260 wp PV module, 82 units of battery 12V 100AH, 11 units of solar charge controller 40 A type MPPT, and 20 units of inverter DC-AC pure sine wave 1,200 W. Economic analysis shows that the life cycle cost (LCC) PV system designed is Rp513,704,165 for 25 years and levelized cost of energy (LCOE) of PV system is Rp1,401 per kWh.
