Abstract

Abstract Working mother had negative impact on breastfeeding. Mother’s woking hours restict the time to giving exclusive breastfeeding. The aim of this research was to describe correlation between working hours and duration of exclusive breastfeeding in working mother. The design of this research was descriptive correlation with retrospective approach this research conduct in Puskesmas Sidomulyo working area. The total sample were 99 respondents who were taken by using accidental sampling techniques who met the inclusion criteria and using correlation spearman. The result showed that majority of respondents were 17-25 years old (53.5%), education background bachelor (50.5%), the majority of respondent’s occupation were employees (31.3%), respondents working hours were 9 hours (29,3%) with average were 8,29 hours. Respondents who giving exclusive breastfeeding until 6 months were 47%. The statistical result showed p value (0,045) < alpha (0,05) which means that there was correlation between working hours and duration of exclusive breastfeeding in working mother that the longer working hours then duration of breastfeeding will be shorter. Working mother are suggested to manage time giving exclusive breastfeeding. Keyword : Exclusive breastfeeding, working hours, working mother,
