Discourse on gender has never been quietly discussed both among academics, politicians, and in people's daily lives. In the development of the current discussion about gender has involved Islamic thinkers to explore the repertoire of Islamic thought to see the existence of gender discourse in Islam. This condition is inseparable from claims that Islamic teachings are not gender sensitive, and even tend to reduce women, especially when a handful of people talk about the existence of women in the public sphere which is constrained by restrictions on women's movement to gain access in education, social and political fields. Fatimah Mernissi, when analyzing the religious texts already in the yellow book, especially the hadiths of the Prophet. and the narrators who later came up with a new term, namely "Misogynist Hadith" or hadith which hated women. Fatimah Mernissi had been critical, even to the figure of Imam Bukhari's caliber who was highly recognized for his credibility and authority, as well as for several friends of the Messenger of Allah. therefore, this critical attitude should not stop here, and not even bring taqlid attitude. This paper will show the method of criticizing misogynist hadith according to Mernissi.

This study uses a qualitative approach that emphasizes literature study through the takhrij and syarah hadith methods with contemporary analysis. The results of this study found that the quality status of the hadith about bidara leaves was considered authentic based on the takhrij hadith. Abstract

Kata Kunci: Jarh wa Ta’dil; Sejarah, HadisAbstrak Hadith is the second source of law in Islam. Nevertheless, in its history there are many fake hadiths spread by irresponsible persons. Therefore, the effort to validate the authenticity of the hadith through the criticism of the sanad, matan and narrators is important. This study aims to unravel the history of the development of critique of sanad hadith from the aspects of jarh and ta'dil and their urgency in the contemporary era. This study uses content analysis methods using a historical approach. The results of this study indicate that: first, the study of hadith criticism has basically been practiced since the Prophet's lifetime, except for the aspect of sanad or rāwi's personality (jarḥ and ta'dīl). The study also continued to develop in the following period. Second, the existence of fake hadiths continues to spread and develop until now. Even fake hadiths that have not been studied and researched by previous scholars also continue to emerge, so it is important to continue studying jarh wa ta'adil. Keywords: Jarḥ Wa Ta'dīl, History, Hadith

Abstract

Cultural linguistic shifts in the era of globalization have led to a degradation of mother tongue proficiency among the millennial generation, including Sundanese santri. This phenomenon poses a challenge for traditional pesantren in West Java that maintain a curriculum of Sundanese-based Hadith studies. This study aims to evaluate the comprehension level of millennial santri regarding Sundanese Hadith texts and to identify the lexical barriers encountered. The research was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Al-Mardhiyyatul Islamiyyah, Bandung Regency, employing a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection instruments included participatory observation and vocabulary comprehension tests administered to 20 millennial santri, utilizing Hadith samples on the theme of thaharah (purification) from the book Papadang Ati. The results indicate that while santri generally grasp the context of the Hadith, there exists a 21% lexical comprehension gap; students struggled to understand archaic Sundanese terms (buhun) such as lingsemeun, mopoyankeun, and pancaindra. These findings suggest a need for the revitalization of kitab kuning instructional methods that prioritize not only Sharia content but also the preservation of local linguistics.

Abstract

The phenomenon in society shows that individuals with high incomes, such as lecturers, doctors, and lawyers, often lack awareness regarding the obligation to pay professional zakat. One of the main reasons is the absence of explicit regulations on professional zakat during the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), leading some to believe that it is not mandatory. However, as Islamic jurisprudence evolves, professional zakat has been increasingly examined by scholars and Islamic institutions as a relevant form of zakat in the context of the modern economy. This study aims to analyze the interpretation of hadiths and scholarly opinions regarding the obligation of professional zakat in Islam. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, reviewing various literature sources, classical Islamic jurisprudence books, and fatwas from different schools of thought. According to Yusuf Qaradawi, the threshold (niṣāb) for professional zakat is analogous to gold and silver zakat, set at the equivalent of 85 grams of gold, with a zakat rate of 2.5% on net income. The findings indicate that professional zakat plays a crucial role in enhancing societal welfare, reducing economic disparities, and strengthening social solidarity. Although scholars hold differing views on its obligatory status, professional zakat has been widely endorsed in Indonesia through various fatwas issued by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and other Islamic institutions. Therefore, professional zakat is not only a religious obligation for Muslims but also serves as an economic instrument to promote equitable and sustainable welfare distribution.
