Abstract

The mission of Islamic teachings is to liberate human being from various forms of arrogance, arbitrariness and injustice whether committed by Muslims or non-Muslims, because Allah is God the Most Just who has infinite justice to His creatures throughout the universe. The diversity of religion, culture and civilization within the necessity of sunnatullah that must be maintained with the best possible, however there is no imbalance, misunderstanding and hostility among human being, whether in coreligionist or for another. In this case, I want to reveal the arguments of the Qur'an and Hadits and some of historical facts about the tolerance that tells begun when Islam came, which brought by Muhammad while his message was forwarded by the companions and the next generation. I will say that all of them must not be separated from the core of Islamic tolerance.This research belongs to a library research with a descriptive model that describes the beauty of tolerance and peace of Islamic teachings from time to time. Whereas in the hypothesis I found that tolerance is very important and should not be abandoned, especially concerning religious freedom, as it would be possible to abandon it then the damage in the plural society is inevitable, as some regions or countries that impose their will to embrace a particular religion, then they will certainly be destroyed by itself vis a vis to conserves tolerance it will experience its heyday, as it once was in Spain when Islam was in the peak of glory, then the Christian government suffered a period of decline for forcing their non-Christian citizens into Christianity and today, they are trying to catch up with trying to re-enforce tolerance.

Abstract

This paper relooks at how most people are vulnerable in facing plural society. Within multi-culture community project in which all religions have equal right and the raising of religious exclusivism, this paper attempts to show how religious plurality maintained in the plural community. One of prominent issue in this context of plural communit is blasphemy. Beside in order to maintain religious harmony in plurality, the law of blasphemy was also purposed to protect any religious issues that despised another religion. Here, blasphemy occurs for some reasons, first is massive understanding about religion is still monolitic and much affected from religious exclusivism, secondly the law about blasphemy is still unfamiliar among plural community. In order to overcome this issue, this paper will unpack the blasphemy law and how it is affected among plural community. Through the paradigm about Maqashid Syari’ah, this paper will argue that the law about blasphemy should be introduced toward communityintensively and massively. Beside it is emphasizing religious plurality; it could be also as medium for communicating the issues of religious blasphemy.[Paper ini melihat kembali bagaimana kebanyakan orang rentan dalam menghadapi masyarakat majemuk. Dalam masyarakat multi-kultur, di mana seluruh agama memiliki kebenaran yang sama dan meningkatnya eksklusifitas agama, paper ini mencoba memperlihatkan bagaimana kemajemukan agama dijaga dalam masyarakat yang plural. Salah satu isu yang menonjol dalam  konteks masyarakat majemukadalah penistaan. Selain untuk menjaga keharmonisan agama dalam kemajemukan, hukum penistaanjuga dituju untuk menjaga berbagai masalah agama yang memandang rendah agama lain. Di sini terjadinya penistaan agama terjadi karena beberpa alasan.pertama, adalah pemahaman yang masif mengenai agama masih monolitis dan banyak terpengaruh dari eksklusifitas agama.kedua, hukum terhadap penistaan masih kurang familiar di antara masyarakat majemuk. Untuk mengatasi isu ini, paper ini akan membongkar hukum penistaan dan bagaimana itu mempengaruhi di antara masyarakat majemuk. Melalui paradigma Maqasid Syariah, paper ini akan membahas bahwa hukum tentang penistaan harus diperkenalkan kepada masyarakat secara intensif dan masif. Di samping itu, paper ini menekankan kemajemukan agama; itu juga bisa menjadi medium untuk mengkomunikasikan isu-isu penistaan agama.]
