Abstract

In the past, there were some cost reduction have been applied by companies in order to achieve competitive position in market. Those cost reductions were conducted by crashing cost components in some level of activities. In the short run, those gave positice impact but did not in the long run.  This article discusses the efforts about cost reduction that is used in the past and in the recent time, and also studies some factors that causing the failures of those past efforts.
